New Equipment Table, What Do You Think?

I dumped my old table. It was poorly made and I didn't like it. I picked this bad boy up at Ikea. Very solid and I like it a lot. It also has a place to put my vinyls.

( I know im missing a blank plate, I need to put on still. )
( I also moved my GIANT Genelec sub out of my room. )

What do you think?

    Wow, very nice.

    Looks sleek and solid. Really compliments the rest of your setup.

    Do you have other shelves for the rest of you vinyl? For the most part, records should be stored upright.

    Excellent! I like how it blends in with your gear and how the vinyl records add contrast to the set up. Well done.

    Also, thanks for the info on Rotel & B&W on my thread. I had forgotten about it and didn't want to bring it back up from down under. I will consider Rotel and Classe in my next upgrade.

    That is all my vinyl. I have only been collecting for a short while now. I have about 30 albums.

    Really? I had no idea. I keep mine upright because it's easier to take out and put back in. I've heard the same about VHS too back in the day.

    Very clean, looks fantastic. From what I've read stoing them flat like that can cause the albums to warp.

    I would definitely avoid the storing of recordings on their sides or flat. I always maintain records in a vertical position. I also remove the original manufacturers wrapping from records and replace them with poly sleeves. These wraps will shrink over time, eventually warping the jacket and it's contents. Warped records suck !!!!

    Didn't mean to sound like a d***. Your collection will grow in time.

    Storing upright helps prevent warping and jacket ringwear etc. You'll also want to make sure there is not a vent behind where you store your albums.

    Again, your setup looks amazing.

    I'm an Ikea fan too. Nice clean look. LPs need a little love to remain in good condition - away from temp extremes, especially heat (ie; not in the sun, not near a heat vent), store vertical but take the plastic off & keep them clean. They will last forever. That nice TT of yours should treat them gently so you should be enjoying those albums many decades from now. Ikea sells some boxes that fit albums stored vertically just about perfectly. Search the forums & I'm sure you'll find the name.

    I think its a good device. Its well built. The feet take some of vibration. The weight helps keep the tone arm stable. The tone are it self can be adjusted like crazy. I also like the small light on the front. I also like that the unit stops when you press the "stop" key. I also just started to look into copying my LPs into my desktop with the USB output. Built in pre-amp is boss too.

    I have worked with turntables that run well over 3-6K ( VPI ). From what I have seen its all overkill. I think if you have a decent turntable and great cartridge everything else is just for show.
