Speaker Placement in Open Room.
My fiance' and I recently moved to a new home and we've got a main room we'd like to setup for some decent movie watching. So we're using our backup pieces to make it happen. I'm having some trouble with the placement however.

Yamaha V667
Parasound A51
Polk RTi10's
Polk CSi5
Polk FXiA6's
70 TV/Games/Sports - 30 Music
The Problem :
So my home theater was easy. Everything was tailored to what we wanted. This room is a bit different and I'd like to get the best possible without killing everyday use and aesthetics. Width is 16 feet by 14. However, with the dining room area, that adds an extra 12 feet on the left. Putting us at 28 wide. The back wall slopes down into the fireplace wall. The back wall's height is 18 feet coming down to 10 feet. The measure from base to floor with cushion is 25 inches give or take and I'm planning for the FXiA6 height at 6.5 feet. Giving a bit of space above the head for viewers.
The Question :
Is this placement ideal? Should the FXiA'6 be spaced out more and or moved higher / lower? The second part, this should be fun. Given the size of the room, I'm almost leaning towards a two sub setup. However, I'm also looking at a few single sub solutions. I'm looking at some of Polk's, HSU and SVS' offering. But honestly I'm at that point where I can't make up my mind. So I'm leaving it to you, the best forumers in the audio realm.

As far as mains and surrounds go, the placement is mainly dependent more of seating position rather than total room area. In other words if you have a 40x 40 room, and concentrate the theater area in a 15x15 area, that will dictate position.
The sub on the other hand is a different animal. It works with the whole room. So you really can't make the area smaller so to speak.
The first decision would be where you would like to face during viewing. Decide that and we could help a little more

We will be facing forward towards the fireplace. Is the picture not showing up? Either way, main seating will be on the recliner or couch laid against the back wall.

Speaker placement for my fronts and center are set in stone. Essentially I'm trying to get a recommendation concerning the FXi's on the back wall and possible single or dual sub setups for a room of the size I listed.I should've listened way back in 2008, they told me I'd go broke... they were right -
Place the FX speakers about 5 feet or so 2 feet outside the seating area on the back wall. A little higher/closer won't hurt. Try both bi/di pole modes to see which you like better. If your going to use 1 sub, it will have to be big, like SVS pb-13 ultra. Use the sub crawl to find the best position. If your going to run 2 subs, I would try the back wall, seating area, in the corner, unless you have more wall at the dining area doorway on the front wall.
You'll probably have to play with sub positioning a little to get the best sound. Personally, I would go with 2 subs. You have a lot of area in that room.

i have almost same set up. I have FXi A6s up on the wall. For me they sound good.
