sound help needed!

Sorry if this is a bit vague but I need some advice:
my grandad listens to his old jazz records on a dual record player but the volume it produces is very low, he has been told he needs an attachment, I think it's called a presound extender (or similar) - does this mean anything to anyone? and if so where/how can I get hold of one of these? any help would be massively appreciated

Does he have a phono preamp??I got static in my head

Welcome to the forum amstead! If the receiver or amplifier he is using doesn't have a built in "phono pre-amp" he will need to purchase a separate (stand alone) pre-amp to use with his turntable. I hope this helps answer your question.

If he just wants a basic phono pre-amp, I once had one of these and it worked without any problems. Definitely not high end.
