RM 6700 hook up

I was reading the manual to the RM6700 and it stated that it is best to use the speaker level method for hooking up the system. The manual claims that the system sound blends together better doing this. I am using the PSW303 sub. Which is better speaker level or using LFE method and why? I am primarly using the system for home theater applications. I am using an Onkyo TX-SR 601 reciever. This reciever has a crossover setting for the sub if that means anything.

if your receiver's crossover is in the 120hz range then you can use the LFE connection. If your receiver does not have a crossover that high use the speaker level connection and turn your subs crossover to around 120hz.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

A crossover setting of 120Hz. WILL NOT be high enough for the 6700's. The 6700's have an internal filter set to 150hz. Basically all frequencies below 150Hz. need to be routed through the sub.
Trust that Polk knows what they are saying when they strongly recommend you run the mains through the sub. Turn the sub's crossover to 150Hz. Set sub to "off" at the rec. and set the mains to large. All other speakers set to small.
Using a sub cable and a rec. crossover setting of 120Hz. will create a freq. gap in your signal.
Try it both ways and see what you think. I have mine set up the Polk way and it really does help blend the sats with the sub.Denon AVR-1803

I have the same exact setup, Onkyo 601, Polk RM6700/PSW303. I wonder if anyone can confirm that a crossover of 150 is indeed the right setting. THat is as high as the Onkyo will go and I'm always a little wary of setting anything as high as it will go.
Also, ever since routing the Onkyo through the sub (as they recommend, not using the sub out) I can't get the pink noise on the speaker calibration. Otherwise the system is operating fine but I'd really like to adjust the speaker levels but can't get the pink noise. -
I tried both ways of hooking up the sub and found that the speakers blended better listening to music using the speaker level method. during movies i seemed to get alittle more bass using the sub out method. i went with the speaker level method....it still has plenty of bass during movies! when i did use the sub out method i set the crossover to 150 hz. It seemed that i was lacking some mid bass, it shows more listening to music so went with the speaker level method. it gave me the best overall performance.

i have no problem with getting the pink noise with ether hook up method

If it lets you send pink noise to the subwoofer then you must have the subwoofer setting on the receiver set to "Yes". Set it to "No" if you are using speaker wire method. Then set fronts to "Large" (it won't let you choose small anyway) and all other speakers to "Small".- Sony 50"A3000 SXRD; Onkyo TX-SR 805

I'm getting the pink noise again. I had a minor setup issue that stopped it from being output.

HI I have a question that I know every one is sick of. I have the rm 6700 but here is the difference. My reciever lets me customize the x over to my speakers. I can pick 100hz, 120, or 200hz, my question is if i pick 200hz to the front my polk internal x over is 150hz will this take care of the gap every one is talking about between the fronts and the sub. I want to use the sub cable to run the sub polk 404. What should I set the sub cross over at. I think this might be the best of both worlds. Just need a little advice before I hook up my reciever it still in the box HKavr 430
THANKS for any advice...... do I set the fronts to large or small
