LXG - Who's Getting / Renting It?

Months ago I thought I was going to make a blind purchase on LXG, but I've read so many reviews that it supremely sucked ****, I'm doing a free rental instead.

I did read the bass track is killer, but a great movie killer bass does not make. It's gotta have at least SOME redeeming value as a movie first, and then as a HT demo disc second.

Hell, even The Haunting in dts (a top demo DVD) is a pretty decent movie.

Any opinions on LXG as a movie? Maybe compared to the recent genre like Hulk, Spiderman, Daredevil, X-Men2, etc.

Thanks,

Doc

I am going to just rent it - reviews say the sound is excellent. And from the trailer it looked awesome but the critics trashed it to death.
I read a DVD review and got a good quote:
"It is not near as bad as the critics say but not near as good as WE hoped it to be". I will say that will be acurate......
    I'll give a spin tonight........

I sooo agree with that statement - the more critics hate a movie the better chance I will like it.
    Blade II
    Underworld
    Resident Evil
    and so on......

Agreed Scott. The more it's hated by critics, the better it is.

Blind purchased it today. Hopefully, I'll get to spin it tonight. Read some bad reviews and some good. Looks like good popcorn movie fun. Enough for me to enjoy it.

    Peace Out~:D

....What the hell was Sean Connery thinking when he agreed to make this piece of tripe?!? Unbelievibly bad, no it was worse than that, it was.......Ishtar!! The premise, even for a cartoon-like movie was terrible. Yeah the sound track was okay, but the plot, if you could call it a plot, was a farce. I wouldn't even recommend it a the $.99 rental rate.

    No entertainment value at all.

This is hardly high praise. I'll take your word for it, since I was already none too interested in the first place.

It was "OK", but not memorable.

I really liked Nemo's ship the Nautilus. And I could get wood for the Harkness vamp. I liked the cammy sound of the hot V-8 in the car they used. The bass was strong and surround use was good. And I liked the concept of long range shooting, but it was not realistic at all with the rifles they were using.

    That's about all, folks.

I really enjoyed it. Good time popcorn movie. Me and my friends had a blast. Do we need a sequel - NO. But looking for a reality drama and be disappointed.
    PLOT
Xmen, Daredevil, Spiderman or Hulk have great plots that rivel this movie - I'm was not aware of it. I have seen Japanamation with better plots. I think the Plot was pretty good for what it was.

The wife and I both enjoyed this one. No, it's nothing to rave about or the next big demo disk, but it was fun and entertaining. The story was decent, typical comic-book stuff. The special effects were good for the most part with an occational scene the looked unrealistic. The sound was good, very active surrounds with some solid bass at times.

Overall, a good, fun, popcorn movie that entertained us throughout.
