RTi A7 impressions

Hello all. Just wanted to throw some opinions of my new towers out there. let me start by saying that I am very slightly "room challenged". My space is 15`w x 24` long. and would be perfect if there was not a window in the way. Anyhow, I have a 47" JVC, Pioneer VSX-01, Velodyne 3750 sub, Klipsch Qunitet SL (large ones) for surrounds and center(replacing center w/ CSiA4 soon), Sony BRP.
At first I was dissapointed in the Rti`s, but knowing they would take 100+ hours to break in. Well 200 hours has come and gone. I love these speakers! I heard a lot of talk about power and that these speakers love more power. Maybe they would sound "better" w/ more power (and I am not sure about that), but in stereo mode, these babys really rock! Female voices are crisp&clear, David Sanborns saxaphone is breathy and tight. I find that the bass is almost too much for music and I am working on minute placement adjustments to bring the bass down a bit. I never even turn the sub on for music. It seems current musicians are asking "how low can I go". I have not found the volume ceiling yet. If I had one critique, they are just a tad bright/forward. This, though will fade as break in gets longer and I refine my placement.
For movies, these guys do need a sub for explosions etc. They provide amazing room fill and never harsh or overpowering the center.
In short, if you are running an AVR like mine (110w per in stereo), that is definitely enought to push these speakers...unless your nieghbors are hard of hearing and want it louder.

Yes, there are a lot of people mentioning the RTi A's are a little too much on the bright side. I guess that is relative to the fact if you want to only use them to listen music or like others (me) using them for music and movies. Yes, the A7's will benefit from an external amp, if you have the opportunity to add one to your setup. But, I think your VSX-01 should be able to drive them without issues.

My only observation is about the center channel: if possible (budget and space - is large speaker) try to buy the CSi A6 center channel. Yes, that is the perfect match for your A7's, and you will enjoy it a lot while watching your movies.

+1 to the OP's 'A7 musical sentiments & welcome to CP!

Hope this post finds you b4 your CC upgrade: per cr136, get the A6! Follow that w/FXi a6 sides. Mix into your plan a 2/3 channel separate to drive L(C)R.

If one day you tire of the crisp top end several CP members have been happy w/upgraded XO parts for not a lot of coin.

+ 1 on that Trey does great work and the results are Stellar. I've had mine done about a year now and still amazed with how great they sound. Listening to brothers in arms as I type just stunning.

Congrats on the speakers! Also, don't rule out an external amp. You think your hearing detail now!

Throw 200-250 watts + at them. Then have Trey do xo mods.

That would be awesome! Now I just have to get to 100 posts so I can go look at the FS section. Might be a while unless I just pad my post count with useless bandwidth wasters. 100 posts? really? That takes me YEARS on most forums. I guess CL it is.

I know the limit sounds crazy but you'll appreciate it soon! CL, audiogon.com, and even ebay all can have good deals if you shop!
