Srs 2.3
Huh What?

Well, I'm up to 3 pairs of Polk speakers now. A pair of Monitor 10's, Monitor 7's, and as of yesterday a pair of SDA SRS 2.3's (with donuts and everything!). They'll need a little reconditioning, but I'm looking forward to hooking them up to my NAD T775. Hopefully that will be enough juice for them.

congrats. Welcome to the world of SDA. listen for a short while and be thinking about mods. They really make a huge difference..If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Congratulations on a great pair of speakers. You are going to love SDAs. I am fairly new to SDAs myself, having bought a pair of SDA 2B TL speakers about 4 months ago and I can tell you that, once you go SDA there is no turning back. For me, they are speakers for life!

Thanks! I have to say this is definitely not my first foray into the world of SDA. My first pair was back in the Army days with a pair of SDA 2's. I upgraded those with a pair of 2.3 TL's. Over the years I've had a pair of SDA CRS's, SDA-1C's, and the flagship SDA SRS 1.2 TL's. I've never sold a pair for an upgrade to something outside of the SDA line. It's always either been a move, or a space, or a WAF issue. This time a friend of mine is moving across country into a house half the size of what he's in now, so I offered to help him save some weight and space on his move by taking the 2.3's off his hands.
I am using them in my master bedroom with an NAD T775 receiver and Denon DVD 2900 SACD/DVD-A/DVD player. I did sort of an A/B comparison with my main system (see signature) listening to Herbie Hancock "Future Shock". I've always loved the way that song sounds on the SDAs. The Talon/Simaudio setup offers more detail, but there's just something about the sound of those SDAs. I'm looking forward to keeping these in the lineup for a while this time.Home Theater - Talon Firebird (Fronts), Talon Raven 2002 (Surrounds), Talon Cinema Hawk (Ctr), Talon Falcon (Back Surrounds), JL Audio Fathom F112 Sub

Nice, that is quite the number of SDAs you have had. I am curious - which pair of SDAs did you think sounded the best?

I guess I thought you were a newbie to Polk since you only have 26 posts but now I see that you joined CP in 2008. Why so few posts, especially since you are such a big polk fan? I am interested to hear your thoughts about all of the different SDA models you have had and how they compared with each other and which you liked the best.

I'm not a big online poster/opinion giver. I figure I know just enough to be dangerous about most things I know anything about. That's a tough question on which SDAs I liked best, because they were powered by different amps and had different sources. One of my favorites was the 2.3 TLs with a Denon DCD 1500, NAD 1155 preamp, and Nakamichi PA 5 amp. I logged a ton of hours with that system and just really liked it for a long time. I'll have to say that the best sound quality had to be the 1.2 TLs. I had the Nakamichi PA 5 powering them, but was using a VTL TL 5.5 preamp, Rotel RCD-1072 CD player, and Audio Research DAC 7. Digital audio sounded great, but put on some vinyl? Oh my word. Butter. Easily the most pleasant, full bodied sound I've heard come through a stereo system.
I just hooked up my Yamaha YP-D4 turntable, Graham Slee Reflex phono preamp, and, of all things, a Pioneer CLD-1030 laserdisc player. I'll let the GS warm up for a couple of days and I think my TT needs a new cartridge, but I'm chomping at the bit to get a listen to it with the 2.3s.
I highly recommend the Oppo. For the price, I think it's easily the finest bluray player available. I thought about the 105 or a used 95, but I'm running everything through the DAC 7 and have a total of 3 SACDs, so to me it wasn't worth the extra $$$. I have my multimedia PC connected to it via HDMI for viewing of my digitized movie collection. The BDP-103's digital coax output goes to the DAC 7 and the optical directly to the Simaudio Attraction. The optical from the HTPC goes to the DAC 7 for 2 channel playback using JRiver Media Center.Home Theater - Talon Firebird (Fronts), Talon Raven 2002 (Surrounds), Talon Cinema Hawk (Ctr), Talon Falcon (Back Surrounds), JL Audio Fathom F112 Sub
