Has anyone heard of the Vandersteen 2C Loudspeakers? I am clueless about the speakers but noticed many possitive reviews from satisfied owners. I've met this cool person( at his early-mid 30s) a couple of nights ago who's very inteligent in audiophiling like many of you guys in this forum. The man must have enjoyed talking to me in which he offered sell me his mint condition Vandersteen for $400.00. It seems like a good deal to me after reading this reviews from Sterophile and Audioreview websites. What do you think guys, I would preferr the SDAs but, the pocket is not too deep enough for it. Thank you.

Vandersteen is a very highly regarded speaker manuafacturer. Very nice speakers and at that price if they are really "mint" then those are some gems. I listened to some earlier this year and liked their neutral character. From what I recall similar to LSi in sound ... kind of laid back and warm sounding compared to some of the "brighter" sounding speakers out there like Paradigm and B&W.

At that price and in mint condition, you shouldn't have any problems getting rid of them if you want to go to SDA later.

    Glenn,

I listened to the updated version, the 2Ce I believe it is called. While not my beloved SDA's I thought they sounded pretty good. I don't think for the price you can go wrong, but try to listen to them first. I thought they sounded better with classical than rock, but that could have been any number of factors including my mood at the time. Also, no harm in asking if he'll take $350.00 for them. If you do get them, we expect a review. :)
