I always enjoyed his reviews.
He never seemed to take himself too seriously. -
Now both he and Gene Siskel are gone too soon from cancer. I remember watching the two of them on PBS Sneak Previews back in the late 70s. They loved to disagree and that was part of show that was fun.
Two thumbs down..."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais
"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible." - Stuart Chase
"Consistency requires you to be as ignorant today as you were a year ago." - Bernard Berenson -

Sad news. I can honestly say he's one of the few critics whose opinions tend to fall directly in line with mine. As such, I looked forward to going to his website every Thursday to read his new reviews. Often funny, sometimes controversial, but ALWAYS insightful.
RIPI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
Great show, even though I often disagreed with their opinions (at least here and there). Is there anything that has replaced them! I know all of my students webout on

But it's not quite the same!

Thanks for sharing. I had not heard the sad news. I always enjoyed the old Siskel & Ebert show.

Huge props to him ! Apparently, he was a drinking, partying, player that used to hang at the Playboy Mansion ! I never would'a guessed that about him. FWIW I only saw eye-to-eye with him on movies approx. 60%-70% of the time. Gone too soon, for sure !

A brave man who stood up to cancer and kept working and living life as fully as he could.
BTW, he wrote the screenplay for return to the valley of the dolls, or one of the valley of the dolls.humpty dumpty was pushed -
So sad to hear this. I have many good memories of his life's work.2.2 Office Setup | LG 29UB55 21:9 UltraWide | HP Probook 630 G8 | Dell Latitude | Cabasse Stream Amp 100 | Boston Acoustics VS 240 | AUDIORAX Desk Stands | Mirage Omni S8 sub1 | Mirage Omni S8 Sub2

I loved it when he and Siskel had rather heated disagreements. They ended up with shooting that look at each other like: You're an idiot with every once in awhile, I swear it, an fu look.
Priceless. -
RIP Roger, we'll miss you. I started watching Roger and Gene on PBS also back in the day. I respected their reviews and agreed on them 60% of the time. It was always a lively show to see Gene and Roger go at each other and Habanero is right, lol, sometimes there would___ be those moments of looks of hate filled daggers shooting out of their eyes, lol!!! I think after Gene left us and Roger teamed up with Richard Roeper I didn't watch the show as often .

Gone too soon! The surgery he had left him so disfigured, but didn't seem to dim his spirit. I too miss his reviews with Gene Siskel. I tended to agree with Roger's film criticisms more than Gene.
I wonder if they liked each other off camera?"Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
