PSW1200 Opinions

Does anyone have experience with the Polk PSW1200 sub? It appears to be a short lived model in the Polk line up. It has dual 12" drivers, but only a 225w continuous amp powering both drivers. Online reviews are either really good or really bad, no in between. Bad reviews reference muddy sound and rattles in the sub. Thoughts?

    I've done some research on this model and most of what I find is very positive. They were the last of some extreme subs and they are possibly the only Polk sub stable down to 20hz. By the time you find them now, the plate amps are getting some age on them and general wear and tear over the years. A BEAST of a sub though! There is a guy on here that is working on the psw1000 models howevery. New plate amps and port mods for lower freqs. I can shoot you his SN if you want.

    I guess you have not decided to rebuild the sub yet... Finding a replacement amp is nearly impossible as I cannot imagine anyone selling a good amp from a sub. If you decide to part out the sub, let me know.

    Hey Jon, I have a guy 2hrs. away from me that's going to mate a Dayton amp to my PSW 1200. I'm just trying one last effort to see if any members on here may have one, or even a whole sub. No luck yet, just as you said, nearly impossible:(

    But it doesn't hurt to ask or look around. Even after the amp is replaced, I don't know if I'll part with it. If I do, you'll get an email from me!

    I just bought another RT5000 system (my 3rd) yesterday for $1,100. It has really-nice cabinets in black which is what I was looking for.

    Both of the RT3000p amps need a little work but that's no big deal. I would rebuild them anyway.

    Like a lot of people who bought the entire system back in the day, the seller only really used the RT3000p's over the years and the CS1000p and f/x1000's are pretty-much unused in the factory boxes.

    The seller also had a nice PSW1200 for sale that I did not buy.

    I didn't buy the PSW1200 although I wouldn't have minded having it. He did tell me he had one person interested in the RT5000 system and another interested in the sub. He sent me some pictures of the speakers and they look to be in good shape so I snagged them.

    He had the 5 original factory boxes and packing materials.

    Love the 1200.
    Still gets deep with my Atmos setup. I will keep it as long as it will go.
    It has the most input/outputs a sub as ever had.
