More stickies? We should have?

Hello all,
I am extremely new to the Polk forums. So I'm sorry if I cross a line here.
IMO there should be some stickies for music posting beyond the traditional "Classical Music" thread. The classical music thread is pretty much a generic one that could be copied and pasted from numerous forums. It's not gonna change. However, I am into lots of music and would like a place to post my music. I would also like to hear from you guys what music you are listening to. A lot of times, this does not fall into the "Classical Music" category.
I listen to a lot of Jazz and Electronic Music. I also listen to a lot of music outside those categories.
Let's beef up the forum and get some real stickies going?
Is that okay? Or is there some specific reason not to?
I think that this site would be a great one to discuss music on. A lot of "audiophile" forums seem to have a distinct bias towards one type of music or the other (they also have a distinct bias toward on manufacturer/engineer or another. just look at how many people wanna be buddies with dennis murphy).
So what you think?

Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
So, in regards to your post, I will clarify.
I love music. I also assume that lots of other people love music.
I am a member of quite a few forums.
On each of these forums there are threads in which people can discuss specific genres of music. There are also often separate forum sections for Home Theater and Music. This is good because both have lots of sub-topics than can be discussed. For instance, the topic of music on an audiophile site can easily be divided into production, listening, and special interest groups.
This is what I was pushing for. At the moment I see only a classical music section for 'must haves." The fact is, even if we were just talking speakers, that different kinds of music demand different things from speaker systems.
And also, I just like talking about music. It excites me and helps me learn more.
I hope this helps to clarify my initial post. -
Try the "What are you listening to" thread...

That's a cool thread, but it doesn't give forum members the ability to dig into music genres in a controlled and organized way.
What are you listening to is a great conversation starter.
It would be nice to be able to get into different genres on the forum. In this context, the way speakers play a role in listening would become more apparent for different users' tastes. -
Music is certainly what it's all about, but it never really seemed to be the big draw here. Discussions about gear seem to draw the moths to the flame. Those other forums that are giving you what you want might be the best source.VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

If you want in depth discussions about music, try the Steve Hoffman forum. If you want in depth discussions about gear, you've come to the right place.Political Correctness'.........defined

You bring up a good point Your Dudeness, start a thread about what you feel are the essential recordings in jazz or progressive rock or electronic music and there's plenty of knowledgeable people on CP who will expand on what you start.
Thanks for joining, by the way.

Welcome to the site, Dudesicle. I look forward to your posts on music. I am a big jazz fan as well.
But I have to agree with the other comments. There are lots of threads already on this site that can accommodate an unlimited discussion on all types of music. And one thing that I really love about this forum is that it is not too cluttered. There are not 1001 different threads on every topic imaginable. If a thread were created for every type of music, that would add dozens, even hundreds, of new threads and would make the site too cumbersome. For example, look at a site like AudioCircle - it is a good site but they have a million different threads and it is very confusing trying to navigate that site. I think the Polk Forum strikes a good balance.
Just my opinion, for what it is worth.
Thanks. -
I was thinking more of a Jazz thread where peeps could post clips. That way we'd have one place where peeps could go for a lot of jazz, for instance.
But I understand, i think. -
I think we're being baited...
-
Baited into wut0_o
Into being awesome? w/ sticky music threads
hehehe -
Proving my point. Hope I'm wrong...

At Club Polk, you'd end up with a thousand clips of Diana Krall, Dave Brubeck, and Miles. -
Well, Ken, actually my last post was an entirely facetious attempt to lighten up the atmosphere created by an accusation that I was in some way trying to foster some kind of argument with this here thread ("baiting" you guys).
I see that this was a mistake.
I'm sorry if I have offended anyone with my desire to see sticky music threads or in the way that I voiced this desire.
I'll just excuse myself from this thread now.

You say that like it's a bad thing. -
Well, it is when they are the ONLY clips.
