It's pretty hot with average RMS at -8db.

    First minute has average -9db rMS (whole track was 8). Peaks in 1st minute go to -2 ish...

    Just so you know FLAC is 100% cd quality so you are getting 1411 kbps output at playback. FLAC de-compresses on the fly so the 803 kbps is the average loss less compression of that file, NOT what it's being played back at since it's being played back at 1411 kbps which is redbook cd playback.

    Yup, good point and well taken. I did say average though :lol:

    And it's 830, my error, as shown in J. River which fluctuates during playback/decompression. They don't show you a flat rate...

    So what's she sound like?

    She sounded fine here...reminded me a bit of Casandra Wilson. I was expecting something hot & sizzling but that wasn't the case. A fine distinctive voice that pulls you in. Her other songs were also very good listening. What did you experience?

    I get whizzer shout/buzz on this; on her voice. I lot of recordings which peak out to -.2 or -.1 do this it seems. My neighbor has some Altec 421 with horns I want to test with my amp.

    I see Omegas in your signature line-- but I don't know whose drivers they use. Fostex?

    Omega uses a proprietary driver. Low mass, maybe cast frame...smaller whizzer now than they used to have on the first incarnation of the Hoyt.

    I hear distortion only only hotly recorded human voices. The whizzer reacts only to that; it's as if the whizzer is separating from the driver and there is a vibration due to the "crack".
