Let us know how they sound when you get them. You would think that 14 gauge cable would be a step or two above the stock 18 gauge cable you normally get with electronics. That $9.99 price is also worth a try.

Very decent power cord-- FYI-- these come standard with alot of devices in the medical field for years. A steal for 10 bucks.

Now to answer your question-- yes I have used them and they seem to play very well with analog gear,,and also headphone amps,,ext phono preamps.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

If you want to take it to the next level of Nirvana, mould some PlayDoh around the connectors.

I've got some of those - the cute "Jelly" ends only came with the short cords. I think anything over 3' had solid ends. Not that it matters...or does it!?

They are a good quality power cord.

I have not used these, but remember reading some positive reviews of these cables about 1.5 years ago. I remember people saying that they are a great cable for the price. Definately worth a try for $9.99.

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

These Power Cords are now on for an additional 10% off. I just ordered 4 to experiment with. Three 6 Ft and One 10 Ft for a sub. Can't beat these prices and the reviews are very good. Should be a lot better than stock 18 Gauge. I will try one on my Pioneer SC-35 that still has the 18 Gauge stock cord ( I know...... it should have been changed long ago ).

Another similar option since I do own both are these power cords: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gray-AC-Power-cord-8ft-16awg-NEW-for-Panasonic-Home-Theater-TCP58VT25-NEW-/310394111048?pt=US_TV_Boards_Parts_Components&hash=item4844ee4448

They are very well constructed, and along with the Jelly Fish cords, everything a consumer would need who doesn't want to jump up to something much more expensive and esoteric.

Belated thanks for the link! I picked up 3 of them a few weeks ago (the 10-footers)...I'm gonna burn 'em in and put them on my pre and cdp. I'll try to remember to come back and tell y'all what I think.

btw used this, got something like 5$ off my purchase. Should still be good for a little bit.

Looks like a computer power cord if you ask me. At 10 bucks a shot I wouldn't expect your audio world to be on fire though. Pick up one of Pepsters cords or from Doug, both are quality cables that offer up nice improvements over stock cords if budget is a major concern.

That's why it's known as expectation bias. It's all about the looks and price, as you just stated.

No, not really. How much quality or R&D went into a 10 buck cable do you think ?

More than enough, power cords are nothing new.

How much R&D do you think it takes to pick the color of Techflex on fancy cables to make them look pretty?

If you assume aesthetics has something to do with performance, which I don't btw.

More than enough you say, cool if that's all you expect from a PC. While we all know power cords are nothing "new", design/materials used/metallurgy/connectors/plugs all have improved over time.

The impression I got was that these cords were considered giant-killers when they were sold by someone (whose name I forget, sorry) who put them through the extra process of cryo'ing them.

They're intended for medical use, which sounds very srs, but doesn't necessarily mean anything when it comes to audio. However, they've still got some cachet as cheap-but-good aftermarket cords, and that guy at hifi.com thought highly of them. I figure at $10 a pop, they can't be any worse than the similarly-priced aftermarket cords that I already use, which (I think) sound better than my OEMs. I've already proven to myself, to my own satisfaction, that cords make a difference (and not always a good one).

Plus, I like playing around with "accessories", as long as they're not too expensive. And the blue plastic terminals are pretty.

    Bumping an old thread.....

Anyone who got them recently want to post some thoughts? Looking for some cheap (underscore cheap) upgrades to my HT setup, 2 channel, and work setup. So in my HT looking at a 6 footer for my Pioneer 51FD, Integra DRT 5.9 (pre only) and my Carver M1.0t plus a 10 footer for my Elemental Designs a2-300. In my 2 channel looking at using 6 footers with my computer, Sunfire TGP-II, and Parasound HCA-700ii. In my headphone setup looking at 6 footers for my computer & my DAC/headphone amp.

Agreed but you can't even go and pick up raw cable and the ends for that price. The price for the IEC and plug will set you back far more than 10$

I hear ya Doc, but seriously.....given your gear list and other cables, don't you think your system deserves better than a $10 power cord ?

Eh, I am gonna go ahead and order one for my sub. I need a long cord (~3m) to wrap it around a corner on the baseboards as my daughter recently started enjoying chewing cords, and the sub one is currently where she can get it due to placement. We are obviously teaching her the word "no" but we cant keep eyes on her 24/7.

Figure the difference between it and a super duper one for a sub is negligible. And the price is right.

Going to wait and get a decent power conditioner for my 2 channel setup and then get some .5m PS Audio cords at that point since they will all be almost on top each other. The shorter length will cut down on the cost for sure.
