Should I buy a Sony BDP-S790?

So I'm looking at buying a Sony BDP-S790, it provides all the functionality i need including dual HDMI outputs. My concern is that I see Sony has discontinued the S390 and S590 on their website and I don't want to buy the S790 at full price only to have it discontinued in a week and become prematurely outdated. Does anyone have any ideas on if Sony has a replacement on the way? I also don't want to hold off and find out that whatever "new" version comes out does not have the functionality that I require. What do you guys think?

I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. The 390 and 590 were not IMHO worth even looking at as they didnt have nearly the feature set the 790 did. To me the pricepoint those two players were at also was just to competitive and IMHO those players probably just couldnt hang with the competition.
The pricepoint the S790 is at isnt nearly as full of competitors and the 790 is a very good player to boot.

I agree that the S790 has a great feature set, and based on reviews I've read seems to be a reliable and well performing player. I guess I'm concerned that I'll be buying the player just as it's being discontinued and something better/cheaper is coming out. I was considering the S790 in January when I wanted a new player. I went with the Oppo 103, but the 790 will just about cover the 103 in functionality. Even plays SACDs I believe. My buying decision was based solely on customer service and build quality, at least my perception of it. But the 790 should be about half the price of the 103, I certainly wouldn't steer you away from picking one up.

@DSkip - I totally agree with you, the S790 looks like it will do everything I need and then some, it even fits my space constraints... but I can't help but be curious about what the next version will bring, price wise and feature wise. You haven't mentioned that you'll use the player for SACDs, but since you brought up the next version...I have no info to say yes or no, but since Sony has stopped SACD playback on the PS3, you may see it go away on their BD players as well in future builds. -

I considered getting the Sony BDP S790 back in Dec. but decided to step up to the Oppo 103. For the last 5 years I've been using my Sony PS3 double duty for games and movies and felt at my age,I deserve something really nice. I've been wanting an Oppo player since 2004 and I had waited long enough. I agree with TR, for the money, I think you'll be happy with the Sony S790.

I spoke with crutchfield earlier and I guess they have a 60 day price guarantee as well as a 60 day return policy. That would help make the decision a bit easier... if something better comes out that fits my needs in the very near future I could just pay the return shipping and upgrade. I would feel kind of bad doing that but the scenario I want to avoid is waiting to see what comes out next from Sony, finding out it doesn't fit my needs, and then not being able to buy the S790.2 Channel - Polk SDA-2BTL, Carver TFM-35, Peachtree iDAC, Qobuz streamed via Episode Lynk using bubble UPnP server

Since the Sony 790 already does 3D and 4K upscaling, there's probably no rush on Sony's part to put out a new player at that price level. Blu-Ray players only stay "new" on the market these days for around a year though before something new is added to get customers to buy another.
Panasonic is coming out with another new model this month that has dual HDMI outputs:

Pickings are pretty slim for Blu-Ray players with dual HDMI outputs. I'd only recommend a Sony or Panasonic in that price range. -
Heck, if the price on the S790 drops down a lot after the newer model comes out, I may pick one up just for the bedroom.
