Best Wireless Router with Parental Controls

Our NetGear WNDR3400 is starting to kick the bucket. We had Geek Squad come out and look at it and they confirmed all is setup correctly.

Can we get some recommendations from you computer experts out there on a new router that has parental controls and pumps out a strong signal.

Price wise we would like to stay under $150.

Let me know if more information is needed.

    I have been running an Asus 900 meg dual band wireless router for about 4 months now. I have not had to restart it once. I get my full internet speed over wireless. It is a pretty heavy weight for a router. It has built in heat sinks, and a good amount of memory wich keeps conection speeds up when you have a buch of wireless devices connected. It has a nice grafic userer interface too.

    It is at the top of your budget. I would deffinatly buy this router again.

    Best parental controls ? It's called the on/off switch.

    Tell us what exactly you use the router for and whats hooked up to it.

    Yea I would say it is very user friendly. It has a real nice user interface. It is about like opening up the control panel on your computer. You don't have to scroll through menus to try to find what your looking for. There are links to video tutorials that show you how to adjust stuff.

    There is a parental control menu that allows you to assign times when each devices can connect to the network.

    It has a place where you can put specific URL's to block and it can also block what ever key words that you would like. I couldn't tell you how well that part works because I don't have it enabled.

    For me net gear and Linksys are the best. Most parental controls are available in windows once you create a separate profile.

    Check out the iBoss. The parental controls are excellent. My only issue is, though minor, is that the wireless is not dual band.

    Asus RTN66U is the best you can get for a good price. There is one other Asus model above it, but the 66U aka the Dark Knight has amazing range and speed.

    I have the RT-AC66U model - indeed, it's pretty speedy.

    Otherwise, I think a couple of older / but reliable models I've used are: Netgear WNDR3700 and D-Link DIR-655. I actually just replaced a Netgear R6300 (similar performance to the Asus), because the R6300's wireless LAN transfer speeds were horrible. Not sure if I got a dud, but had some bad luck with that one.

    Much more customization available w/ the Asus routers.
    ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place :(

    Google "Cisco outlet". Use can buy their really nice gear for much less than new, and it comes with the same warranty as new. Use can configure the router to times of day it can be used, block sites (although you'd be better off using parental controls on the computer).

    Finally got around to upgrading our wifi router.

    Much thanks to jbooker82, Sherardp, PrazVT for recommending the Asus RTN66U. Set-up was a breeze and it works fantastic.
