Delivered and setup today, a new Music Hall MMF 5.1... With a decent Goldring MM cart, and a Cambridge Audio Azure 651P Pre... Nice easy setup ... Sounds great, and looks sweet too... It is ridunculously quiet and puts cd player to shame... must be the first time since about 86 that I played a vinyl record, and it sounds mmmmmarvelous!

    I see you have a Grado Gold... Back in the day I used to do some work for the Joe Grado who I guess has long since past ... I think his son in law runs the company now... I have a couple of prototypes he gave me back then... He was the nicest guy i ever met. And he taught me so much about electronics and audio. When I go for a new cart it will definitely be a Grado just for that reason. Would love for him to come over and setup my tt for me... He was brilliant

    That's a cool story.

    I had a grado black on the second TT I bought and so I just kept it in the family when I got my latest TT and it needed a new cart.

    I need to learn more about setting up my TT. When I bought the Grado gold, the shop set it up for me. I checked the VTF, however, and it was a bit off, so I don't know if the rest of the tweaks are good or not.

    That said, it sounds pretty alright to me, so I'm not super worried.

    Congrats again on the new setup.

    Nice table. I bought my 5.1 in 2007 for $700 and it included a Goldring 1012GX. I've been surprised how much the price has risen since then, and also how the value of the included cart has gone down. I added a Speedbox II, an acrylic platter, a Herbie's mat, and Mapleshade brass feet over the years. Happy listening.

    Congratulaions. That's a nice looking tt and I am sure it sounds sweet. I need to get back to vinyl as well. I have a Yamaha YP 701 tt I need to take to the shop and get fixed and get set up. There is nothing quite like the sound of vinyl!

    LOL...the Boogie stuff for me, just has TOO much stuff. To many push pull, this or that..drove me nuts. I know they can sound great..just drove me nuts..LOL I played Marshall's all the years i played out. Now surprisingly I'm useing a Carvin X100B...LOL with a custom 4X12 cab I built myself.

    It's pretty much a Marshall with a clean channel that really sounds like Fender. Not that i use the Clean very much at all...LOL

    It is cool when you get it all dialed in, but i will admit that you need an EE degree to understand it... Once you get it dialed in you can have like 3 amps in one from clean to crunch to super dual rectifier distortion

    I used a Music Man HD130 when I played out... I wish i still had that beast with a 4x12 Marshall cab


    Once you get your settings, then you make a diagram of the knobs and switches so if anyone effs with it you can put it back...:cool:

    Turn Tables are fun.
    Sweet setup!

    You should try out an album I like to use to "show off" the clarity and awesomeness of vinyl. "The Postal Service" "Give Up". Its just sounds so good on vinyl. Modest mouse is another artist who has awesome vinyl. These guys made sure that their albums were on 180g vinyls and took up two vinyls for one album to fit even more detail in there.
