noticed this on top of some power amps

On top of some generally higher grade power amps is a diagram of the schematics on how the circuits were put together. If one wasn't a gear head why would anyone care as in Parasound they don't .McIntosh,Sansui and some others do this practice. If buying new you would get a service/users manual w/ the schematics all laid out for you .On a Mac 2300 they are ther right on top. now when trying to resell most people want their silk screening and any grphics perfect .Why is this done. For someone like Terry Dewick I can't believe he takes off the top and refers to it as his guide to fix the Mac he is working on.On my previous post if I did not make it clear that Halo was one big beautiful amplifier. I would perfer and hear that it is coming out in black.

Well, for older gear, manuals get lost, out of print over time and they had no computers back then to store data. Today, I guess it still makes sense for ease of use when upgrading parts as alot of times gear is taken to shops other than the manufacturer. Paper gets lost, worn out, outdated. I see nothing wrong with having the layout on the cover or inside the cover.HT SYSTEM-

great point taken if it were to be printed on the inside cover. How often and we are not talking a Jerry Garcia rig that a cover is taken off. if no problem then it's never off or molested. On top where things get stacked rashed and who knows what else.I do not see the logic in it. I do believe likke in most Mac products it does look good as do those meters. Also if you were to buy as many Macitems as the Dead did they would have papre work coming out of every file cabinet from the Fillmore to Marin Co.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Not necessarily, if you had the Deads money, you wouldn't care about stacking componants or paperwork. They could afford to just buy a new one.HT SYSTEM-
