Hi guys I'm new to the home theatre game so I have some questions. My set up is a denon avr1712 polk tsi 200 for my fronts a cs1 series 2 center channel, rm 7 satellites for the surrounds and 2 psw 505 subs. So my question is should I get a separate amp to get more power out of my speakers? And if so how does a separate amp hook up to my avr? Sorry if this is a dumb question I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff.

If your Denon had pre-outs for extra amps you would just use it like a pre-amp...But your Denon has no pre-outs except for a sub. so unless you get a new AVR the answer is NO. -
I just wasn't sure if the speakers were being driven good enough form the receiver I have but it sounds like they are, my system sounds good and I've been to other forums where they would talk about pre amps and it got me thinking if I was missing something.

You're only missing something if you think you are...
And if you think you are....that's usually a good enough reason to spend more money! :biggrin:_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to Club Polk.
Your receiver does not have preouts so you can't add a separate amp. More power is always good, and don't believe that you wouldn't hear an improvement if you had a powerful amp driving your speakers to their full potential. My 23yr old $600.00 speakers showed me what they can really do when I gave them 205wpc to munch on.
If you are happy with the sound then fine, but if you ever get the change to upgrade your receiver, make sure to get one with preouts so that then you have the option of adding a separate amp.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Thanks cfrizz I appreciate the help I'm hoping to be able to upgrade my receiver in the near future, and ill be sure it has those connections:biggrin:

Your receiver you have now is fine for what speakers you have. The subwoofers are doing all the heavy lifting and making it easier for the receiver to power the rest of the speakers. Thing is, with a receiver without preouts, such as the one you have, it will limit your choices greatly should you ever decide to upgrade the speakers.HT SYSTEM-

Are there no amps that can take speaker level inputs and amplify them?Front Speakers: Polk Audio LSi15 x 2
Center Speaker: Polk Audio LSiC
Rear Speakers: Polk Audio LSiF/X x 2
Subwoofers: Polk Audio PSW505 x 2
AVR: Denon AVR-3313CI
Amp: Emotiva XPA-5 -
Not really.....of any sort of quality anyway. Point is, at this juncture you really don't need to amplify them. If you find they are lacking some how, check the settings in the receiver. Check your speaker levels specifically, they may be set too low.
Also, how big of a room is this setup in ? The tsi 200 and cs 1 center are for smallish rooms. Trying to fill a large room with small speakers will leave you wanting more.HT SYSTEM-

Hi ! I need help! I am using a ADCOM 8502 to power Polk lsi 25 tower but my amp is over heating, I know the run hot but in order to not get the thermal alarm ,I am using fan in top of the amp! I am using 10 gauge monster cable! Any thoughts?

If your "5802" I presume is well ventilated and your not running the amp/speakers wide open for long periods I would assume that your 5802 is in need for some updating/repair
Would also recommend starting your own thread to get your question out there2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures

No biggie Sid, if you look at the upper left when you click on a sub catagory you'll seen a tab that says "new thread". Click on that to start your own conversation going about a particular problem.
