Goodwill finds......what say you?

We have all read of great Goodwill finds here and there and that's all good. I'm happy for the folks that find good deals. Good deals are always cool. With that said, when you go to visit Goodwill, do you ever find anything worthwhile?
If so, where are you located?

What I get is LP's that look like "cat scratch fever", alarm clocks, heavily damaged goods at ridiculous prices and beautiful CD jewel cases with no freakin' CD's within. That's Goodwill for me. I hear of all these good finds but I have yet to encounter even one............just one.........decent or even a worthwhile find and I've been at it for years. Not even so much as a decent CD. I've had better luck at pawn shops and even then, it's only been 1 Furman EQ I had to show them what the retail price was in order to get a price not even worthy and a set of CD's I acquired for 4 bucks when retail was about $150.00. Classical music, nonetheless. Absolutely NOTHING other than that.
Nothing. I'd like to know where these finds are....geographically. I'm tired of wasting my time.

I personally haven't looked, but my brother has found a number of great items (some audio related and some not).
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I have done ok. Polk 5's, Realistic Nova 8B, Rectilinear Xi, Lafayette receiver, Dual tt, and lots of albums. Some of the albums have been mint, most of the albums are just very dirty and sound great when cleaned.
I was traveling around Maryland a lot for work. I would check out the goodwill stores in whatever town I was in.
Havent looked much lately.I got static in my head

I am lucky in that I have a pair of Goodwills and a Salvation Army on my way home from work. Depending on the office I am at, M-W, I have a Goodwill on the "good" side of town. It is where I found a couple of Onkyo pieces and a Yamaha CR-2020. The other Goodwill that I can hit when I work downtown Th-F is also on the good side of town but in a more transistional neighborhood between the OK part and the high end part of town. I find a ton of good CDs there regularly. I also caught a guy walking out one day with a Rotel CDP. I was tempted to tackle him. But the Salvation Army that is also along that route tends to be more of a mid-century modern furniture gold mine. I have bought several furniture items there that I have passed on to my friend's furniture gallery and collect finders feels for that stuff. Have yet to find anything worthwhile in audio there though."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Just thought I'd give you fair warning: you're now on my list of people in need of a severe DOUBLE thrashing.
No luck at Goodwill stores (usual assortments of alarm clock radios and vinyl that's suitable for melting into candles).
Valu Village: pretty much ditto Goodwill, but less selection.
Salvation Army, though, is another story. They're further away, so only stop in every couple of months, but there are good finds there (just not when I show up).Sal Palooza -

Goodwill find - pair of SDA SRS 2 for $50
Albeit they were in really bad shape, but all components were good. But after my brother-in-law visited yesterday and told me that they looked brand new!
Here's the link to the refurb project... very fun:

Jack squat. Thing is, now that we have the internet to find out various aspects of audio, old and new, I think a lot of people try to sell stuff on Craigslist/Ebay and the like. I was recently at an estate sale poking around and saw some old records and thought, "oh boy, there has to be something audio around here", no dice. Either it was sold immediately, the family took it, or the family put it on Ebay/Craigslist to get more dough.

Absolutely nothing. I am however about to take a boatload of clothes, old PC cables and parts, and other random junk to Goodwill, so if you're in VA and interested in a buncha crap, let me know.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Goofy... no, it was on the one on McFarland off 400. That was in November. Then just a couple of weeks ago, same Goodwill, a Yamaha Natural Sound CD/DVD S-1700 for $15. -
Started 2 months ago once a week. Nothing yet.

I have yet to buy anything at all like the quality of stuff I was getting out of the Indiana stores. I have started hitting estate sales now instead, but even they are insanely priced. Ebay and CL have jut about killed the bargain hunting out here. The Gear... Indiana stores are dry, just ask myself and Jeff. I hit them when I can, but anything good gets filtered before it hits the shelf and goes online. And West Lafayette is too far to drive just to hit goodwill lol"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
