I want to know what would be the right set of speakers for my rear center.

I recently bought Yamaha RX-V1400 7.1 receiver.

I'm looking towards,

RTi38
or should I go for new

RTi6

Need help!

The ideal thing would be to stay w/in the same series as what you have. This would mean staying with either the RT35i or RT25i, if you are wanting smaller bookshelf speakers.

If you can step up to a tower you could put up some RT600i's I know where to get some NIB.
    Front
    Polk RT800i (BI-wired)
    Rear
    Polk RT600i
    Center
    Polk CS400i (BI-wired)
    Sub
    SVS 25-31PCi (22Hz tuning port)... it's SubHuman
    Receiver
    YAMAHA RX-V1400
    TV
    Mitsubishi WT-46807 HDTV
    HD receiver
    T i V o HR10-250

I'm looking for bookshelf like RTi38. I would love to get RTi25 but since it's discontinued it is very hard to find but that's ok I'll get the new one.

    How about?

RTi4, it is really cool looking, plus its not too big in size. I'm putting them on the top shelf of my closet.

    I've three choices RTi38, RTi6 or RTi4.

Rear centers are least in use compared to other speakers. Also there aren't too many movies yet. As far as I think they would never get heavily used even in 6.1 movies.

I think buying big BACK SURROUND speakers is not a good idea for me. Especially if I'm using them on a small setting.

    More ideas please!

The 38's would be the best for your setup. And if you set your reciever to a "forced matrix" setup you can listen to EVERY movie in 7 channels. So they WILL get used.

I would try to stay timbre matched as FGR recommended, there are plenty of the old models floating around....RT600i,RT35i,RT25i or a pair of FX500i....you will certainly find one of those on the market.

Get the smaller RT35i or RT25i.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks everybody. I'll definitely look around for the old ones first. If I'm lucky enough to find, I'll get the RT25i.

the 25's, 35's, and 38's show up on ebay all the time.. you'll be able to find them easily.... some are new.. but most are used.. you can get the best deal if you purchase them used.

Actually I work for Best Buy Canada here in Toronto and there is a company called
Future Shop similar to Best Buy.

Best Buy Canada owns Future Shop chain and BB employees can get a staff discount at Future Shop. FS has RTi38 and other models. They don't carry the old RT25i but I don't care for it anyways.

I'll get the RTi38 through my Staff discount.

Thanks everybody for the help and info.
