I dont know but I was at a concert all night and I just though the whole thing was balls. The sound was awefull and a one point a guy was playing the sax and even though he was on the video screen in the back playing you could not hear anything. I am not being super picky here as this was one horrid concert for acoustics as it was muffled and all mashed together, I was just not feeling it at all

Do you remember who was playing and where the concert was? Also, were you drunk as hell before the concert, that could mess with your hearing.

Hello, PFB. Sounds like you have developed an ear that is used to decent sound. Let me be the first to tell you, if you go to a live and amplified performance? More often than not [if not always], it will not sound good or even remotely close to what your normal listening sounds like. You have to keep in mind that the folks that go there, go there for the music and they expect it to be loud. Not for it to sound like an audiophile system. Next time, leave the 'phile at home and go enjoy the music.

I've been to some concerts where the sound was horrible, to loud and distorted. Like the last time I saw Megadeth and Marshall Tucker in concert (not at the same concert), horrible sound. It's a crap shoot sometimes imo. I saw ELP once and the sound was phenomenal! Same way with The Firm and Bryan Adams. Great sound.

But PFB, knowing your track record. It may have been muffled to you because you might have been in the car in the parking lot or behind the stage or in a porta-potty?!?

Its a shame adult americans, suffering from cancer or just wanting to relax after work with this substance instead of that one, cant grow it, cure it and imbibe with no interference from fascists with guns, and/or greed merchants.

Thats mine for today, now you guys can get back to lighthearted banter.

I hate it when I go to a concert and the sound is poor. I have been to hundreds of concerts and I have found that sometimes you have to be in the right place (usually right in front of the sound board) to have good sound.
However, One of the best sounding concerts I ever went to was Pink Floyd RFK 1994. After that I was pissed off if I went to a concert and the sound was poor. If Pink Floyd can make RFK sound that good (from any seat) then these other bands were just not trying hard enough or dont care.

The Dropkick Murphys come through here about once a year. They sound AWESOME about every other year. The other years they sound like ****. I love loud and sounds good. I abhorr loud and ****ty. This last year, their show was loud and harsh...the year before, it was like I was at home listening to one of their live albums really loud.

Man, I have seen some bad ones (Molly Hatchet comes to mind).
It depends on the humidity for outdoor venues.
Sounds excellent during sound check, and the next day like crap.

That said, Def Leppard has blown me away on more than 1 occasion (OKCity outdoors was memorable).
Ozzy also had an awesome sound system during the "Retirement Sucks" tour (both outdoors and indoors).

Both Jackyl and Sevendust have blown me over in the past with their sound systems (small venues)!

    Tool
    NIN
    Iron Maiden
    Ozzy
    Metallica
    Slayer
    Live
    Megadeth
Limp Bizkit the first time I saw them they burned the house down it was fantastic.

Just a few metal/rock bands that floored me a time or two.. There are a few of the bands I mentioned above that I have seen many times and not all of their shows floored me..

Agreed!! In my younger years I was working at Budget Tapes and Records and they came in to do an autograph party for Peace Sells and not only did I get to hang out with them all day but got to go to the show and party with them after the show.

They didn't even have a tour bus they had two mobile homes to get them around.. Remember these are the dark days of Megadeth so cocaine, and heroin were a part of what they did..

Also Gar Samuelson (drummer RIP) gave me a big **** bud that I refused to smoke for the longest time.. LOL!!!

Oh and I was playing their music during the autograph party at the store, and they wanted Slayer playing so of course I opened a new Slayer LP and cranked it up!!!

    Great Times!!!

I've seen Megadeth three times...always awesome!

What happened with limp bizkit, one minute they were the toast of whatever type of fusion rock rap that was, and then they and fred durst were just outcasts, not just no longer popular, but unwelcome at the party, so to speak.

I do remember the song and video that said something about rollin, rollin, rollin being one particular source of irritation, but obviously, im not all that up on the rap metal genre, but i remember durst going from royalty with the hottest chicks and being celebrated to GONE.

Yep but I'm glad I saw them in their prime, I still get chills thinking about that night, they were the most electic high energy show I have seen to date next to Metallica on the masters of puppets tour!!

okay, did a little readin, apparently the guitarist was the real s*&t, and durst was pretty much a publicity hound.

When the guitarist quit and formed the band "black light burns", durst was kinda left with lousy(in the fans eyes) music, and nothing but a loud mouth.

Dont think that would be a prob. today.

True, but they are back together and should have a new albume out soon. I doubt they will ever be what they were though..
