Deal gone bad!

Well guys, I pulled my end of the bargain here and what did someone do...they tried to renig on a done deal.

Regarding the F/S posting for the 2 pair of FX1000's, the CS1000p and the RT800's, I emailed back and forth with OHBALLCOACH for about 3 days until we reached an agreement on a single pair of FX1000's. I FED-EXed a check for the agreed amount to him to arrive Monday afternoon. I even stated that he could wait for it to clear until shipping.

Over the last 2 days, he went behind my back and tried to complete a deal with someone else on all but the RT800's.

Mind you, I emailed him YESTERDAY and said the check was sent. He replied saying the speakers would be shipped Tuesday.

As of THIS MORNING, he was secretly trying to complete a deal with a well respected longtime forum member for all but the RT800's. This forum member was kind enough to let me in on this chain of events. After speaking with the forum member on the phone several times, I concluded that I had to cut my losses at $33.00 ($20.00 stop check fee and $13.00 fed-ex) and not risk losing out on the full amount the check was written for.

LET THIS BE A WARNING TO EVERYONE ATTEMPTING TO BUY OR SELL ON THIS FORUM:

There are alot of us on here that have been longtime members of this forum. We are like a family and thus, watch out for each other on this forum so no one gets screwed! If you attempt to buy or sell something with a motive of unethical business behavior or flat out scamming someone, chances are you will be busted by us! Let these recent events be proof of that!

John

Sorry to hear you got a raw deal. Atleast you could cut your losses at a minimal amount. Shouldnt have to cut anything but sometimes thats life.
Hope a better deal comes your way!

    And I quote:

"Just my opinion (and experience) but when people set up multiple ads they are generally willing to cause bad blood if someone offers a higher amount elsewhere even after a commitment has been made. In essence they have illuded to the fact that they are willing do this just by the action of offering it in more than one place. Might not want to do that in the future.

Just what we need, another loser on the forum.

    John,

My sympathies to you amigo, better to lose 33 dollars than the whole amount though.

Really, the $33.00 is no huge loss. It's the principle of the entire thing.

We emailed back and forth for a few days, then spoke on the phone. Then I spent my money to get him the check quickly so he wouldn't have to wait for regular USPS, then this **** goes down!

I could drag this on and on by posting all of our emails, but everyone can pretty much figure out what went on without them.

It's a good damn thing I didn't post the CS400 for sale that I would have sold if I had received the FX1000's. I would have had to back out of that deal which would have made me look like a dog!

    Madmax, you called that one!

Keep up the good work guys,

    John

I think your integrity has shown thru with this deal gone bad. What a shame. I work on the honor system with folks, and never ask them to send money until they have the item in their hands--and they're completely satisfied.

Sorry that had to happen to you John. Some people just don't have any integrity, and they'll have to look at that everyday--in the mirror.

If I may add a little nugget from "Coach's" original thread.....

    Everybody?!?!

Hell all I've seen is polksters looking out for each other. We've had good people get burned around here before, so most of us will raise the red flag if something doesn't seem quite right. Keep in mind that no one here knows you, and only having a handful of posts and trying to sell high dollar items makes people a little bit leary.

I'm glad you guy's figured this mess out before anyone lost more than $33, but any loss is too much as far as I'm concerned.

Russ is a stand-up guy, he could easliy have picked up the speakers and screwed everyone else in the process, but he didn't. That my friends gives him high marks for honesty and decency in my book.

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't buy a P.O.S. DIY amp off Ebay!!

Wow!I cant believe I almost sent all of the funds the other day.I hesitated and then finally talked him into shipping them COD.Uhhhh my Christmas would have been sh@#!I am so glad I got a call last night from a forum member about what was happening. If he would have really shipped the speakers my UPS guy would have let me inspect them before I would have paid for them.I gotta say ALL of you guys really do watch each others backs in here.I have never been scammed via the net yet, but I had a feeling something wasnt right about this one.Ohballcoach I did agree with you on paying ALL of the shipping for the speakers and even paying for the COD fee.I guess you really did blow it foryourself here and other forums. If I were you I would just keep them because you aint gonna sell now!P.S the CS1000P was $400 and the FX's were $300,if they existed.

Yep, he is in for a long haul on Ebay. AVS/HTF/AK/AA....all places that will be unuseable.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
