2 ch source to 2-way split & sub

Hi
Need assistance in deciding on which amp to get and how to hook everything up properly
I have a HU that only has speaker output (no RCA) to 4 speakers - 2 front and 2 rear.
Don't want to run the rears through an amp, as they are just fill speakers.
So far I bought Polk Audio db6501, which is a 2-way split with passive x-over and now searching for a suitable amp, that will use 2 ch as input, but allow to power Polk Audio db6501 split + a sub (yet to decide on which one to get)
My understanding so far:
- buy 4 ch amp that supports 2/4 channel modes, and takes speaker-level input
- use front only channel inputs and put an amp into 2 ch mode, so that all 4 output channels are used
Then it gets confusing, as not much info in the owner manuals for amps:
- which output channels (1,2,3,4) should I use for my Polk Audio db6501 split
- If I use ch1 and 2 for Polk Audio db6501 splits, can I use 3 and 4 for sub?
- If amp is used in 2ch mode, are amp x-overs still used? Like can I use ch1 and 2 in full range, and 3 and 4 in LP for the sub (or it will be the same and I would need to run a separate amp/xover for sub)
Also, for Polk Audio db6501 splits, what amp ratings do I need and how do you tell (with all of the above) what is the max powered sub I can get?
Thank you
