My Setup...needs more

What would be a good pair of wall mounted SIDE surround speakers to make this a 7.1 setup (Budget for sides $400 pair.)

Also my rear ls/fx speakers has problems...It seems the cone became unglued to what looks like a little tube in the middle of it. They sounded static-like when it got too loud. I glued it back on and sounds a lot better but not completely. Do I need to get new rears?

Current Setup:

AVR: Denon 1913
Front: Polk LS90 Standing
Center: Polk CS350LS
Sub: Polk PSW300
Rear Surrounds: Polk LS/FX
My SETUP

AVR: Denon 1913
Main L/R: Polk LS90's
Center: Polk CS350LS
Side Surrounds: Polk LS/FX's
Rear Surrounds: Polk RT/FX's
Subwoofer: Polk PSW300

Either get another pair of LS/FX's (that's what I would do)

...or get a pair of matching bookshelves (I think the RT3's, RT5's, or RT7's would work), use those as your rears, and use your current LS/FX's as sides.

As far as the loose dust-cover, take out the driver and get the model #. Contact Polk CS to get a replacement. If they don't have one, look on ebay.

    Good luck!

I think I have just realized the way it sounds is not because of the glue coming off...I just noticed that when I push the diaphragm up and down it seems to makes a grinding noise as if its sliding against the basket rim. With all my other speakers it makes no grinding noise...anybody know how this could happen?

Yep you need a new driver. I take it you already contacted Polk CS?

Keep checking ebay, one will come up eventually.

Yea I did. They said nope....Anybody have any other ideas for added surrounds for my setup? I cant find RT7's. Would it sound off if I went with a diff series, say FXiA6?

Why RT7's? Why not another pair of LS/FX's? What about RT5's or RT3's?

Yes, the FXiA6's will sound different, but you may not care.

Ask Polk what other speakers they used the MW4851 in.. you might be able to find a beat-up whatever on the cheap and cannibalize it for the driver.

Edit: I'm thinking the only other speaker that used that driver was the CS350LS center channel speaker which used (4) of them. You'd have (3) backups! I have a CS350 if you're interested.

Well...you actually said RT7's earlier so I was searching for them and figured they are better than 3 and 5's.
How are the RT/FX's? Good as LS/FX?
I have that same center in my setup...How much for yours?

Ideally, you'd fix your current pair of LS/FX's, and then find another pair of the same LS/FX's.

I've never heard the RT/FX's, but I'd assume they're great, and they'll match your setup better than the RTiAFX's.

The RT bookshelves (3, 5, or 7) will perform very similarly as surrounds, so you might as well go with the cheapest and smallest.. the RT7's are pretty big speakers.

My preference would be as follows:

    1. (2) pairs of LS/FX's

    2. (2) pairs of RT/FX's

    3. (1) pair LS/FX's, (1) pair RT/FX's

    4. (1) pair LS/FX's, (1) pair RT bookshelves

    5. (1) pair RT/FX's, (1) pair RT bookshelves

    6. (2) pairs RT bookshelves

None of those are actually bad choices at all.

I can get you my CS350LS for 150 shipped.

As of right now it seems #2 and #3 are my best options given that i can only find RT/fx's. Hesitant on the C350...why would you say #2 is better than #3?

I put a bid on those $50 Rt lx so if I get them I might just take your C350 so dont get rid of it. Its prob a safer bet to go with #3 and have backups along with fixing the ls fx.
