Ok... I have
(F) Polk RTi70
(C) Polk Csi245
(R) Polk f/x 300
(Sub) Polk PSW 350
Moster 2600 and cables
All other components are Sony (got them for free - can't beat that)
- mostly viewing movies 70% / music 30%

I've been looking at: HK 430 ($575), Onkyo TX-NR801 ($999), Sony ES STR-DA3000ES ($799) {known hissing problem}

I'm looking for most bang for my buck, (would like to stay arround 700-1000) and a receiver that is of high quality and reliability (not is the shop alot)

I want something that is kind'a bright - I prefer the sound clean and clear... I know that most folks like Denon and Yamaha, and seem to be a better match for the polks, just don't really understand why, exactly (newbie, here) - so take it easy on me...

Don't really have alot of $$$ and I really won't be able to upgrade anytime soon...

Please some help!!

I have a similar setup. A really good buy is the Onkyo 700. CC has them for 599 now. I got mine at onecall.com for 525.

    Jet,

I agree with Polkthug and Fireman99.

I upgraded to the Onkyo TX-SR701 last month and it's a good solid receiver. Nobody ever got dissed for buying Onkyo.

    I paid $599 at J & R Electronics w/free shipping. Check it out.

    Onkyo 700 here as well,

Cant go wrong with the price of them since the 701 came out, and not all that much difference between the 2. I just saw an open box value at circuit city on the 700 last nigth for 500 i believe, give or take 20 bucks. Still a great value.

I agree Onkyo txsr 701. We have been selling that receiver with the rti series spekers. Great bang for the buck! Enough power to drive the rti series well.

    I also vote Onkyo.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Cambridge Soundworks has a special right now on the Onkyo 800 for $799. http://www.cambridgesoundworks.com/store/category.cgi?category=rec_hometheater&item=o1txs800

I'd buy one but am looking to keep it closer to $600.

If you want to keep the cost to about 600 might look at the onkyo txsr 601 ot the denon avr 1804 both retail for 500. if you could spend another 100-200 the txsr 701 or the denon 2803 both retail for 800, street price slightly less if you look around. We offer a better than retail pricing here id assume other retailers would do the same too. Also make sure you purchase from an authorized dealer/reseller, just incase you need to claim a warranty repair!

I got my onkyo tx-sr700 on a website called Ubid.com. It was Onkyo refurbished, so i trust it completely, and its under waranty for a year i think. Anyways I got it for 435 dollars including shipping about a month ago. Cant beat that and im extremely satisfied thus far. Makes those rti70s really sound great.

    Denon 3803 - $650 delivered from 6th Ave - amazing.

Just ask about the "3802 Out Of Stock - 3803 Deal". They are backordered they've sold so many (hundreds, maybe thousands).

3803 - probably top three AVRs in the 1000 price class. Totally untouchable for $650 and a great sonic match with the RTi. RUN to your keyboard and order one. This deal won't last forever.
