Polk Monitor 75 vs TSI 300.....?

I JUST bought a set of tsi300's for about $230 I now can get a set of Monitor 75T's for $400...should I bite???

    I understand that with the 75T I'll be getting 2 more woofers at 6.5 vs 5.25" and a bass port, so in terms of power it would be a step up

    One more thing....my CS20 is being delivered today...would that match up with the 75's or would I need to change that also????

    The TSI series is NOT sealed, the towers have PORTS on the "bottom" so they are not radically different or tighter than the monitor series. In fact that bottom port creates more problems than benefits depending on what your floor surface is made of or covered with. Placement is more difficult. Carpet, not a good thing, etc.

    The other series are front ported which gives more "flexibility" with rooms and placement, IMO.

    The larger towers are not less tight than the smaller ones. It's more a question of power. The big boys need more power, though they can run on that Onkyo, they will NOT sound their 'best'. So unless you want to upgrade your AVR and your front two, I'd stay where you are.

    The CS20 will match most of the models suggested above.

    Play around with the 300s a little before you decide to upgrade. And save your pennies for a possible upgrade to Rti-A7s or A9s and a new AVR and power amp?

    Thanks cnh, my final thoughts on it are i will put the extra $100 I woulda spent on the 75's toward a new receiver or some surround speakers....any thoughts on a good match for the surrounds? Or a decent receiver????

    Don't think you will find a pair of 75's for $400. I saw new egg had them today for $419 EACH. So that may be a problem.

    I can officially refute that price , I just got my 75T today from newegg in Cherry for $219 a piece with free shipping .Unless they went up since I bought last week.Think the black ones were a little more. These things sound awesome even under my lower powered (50W) Onkyo stereo receiver. Has plenty of power even for these speakers. I can't turn up much more than 1/4 volume and still be in the same room . The highs are crystal clear and the bass has enough punch for for music and I'm sure it will be fine for bluerays too. These things are really tall so check the specs and see if they will look ok in your environment. They were a little taller than I expected. But they aren't going back :cheesygrin:

    Well I bit the bullet and ordered the 75's. One arrived yesterday and the other is scheduled for today. These things are monsters! I like the black piano finish on top of the TSI's, gives a more modern look. The 75's remind me of my uncles stereo from the 1970's...but still cool.

    Any suggestions on a sub to match? I have the cherry finish and the only options I've seen is psw10 and 110 (ugly). Help???

    I'm running the DSW 550 with my Monitor 75s, it's a great match. Like ZLTFUL said, I wouldn't let finish on the sub determine which one you get (not usually front and center anyway). For Polk subs with a cherry finish though, there's the PSW125, 110 and 10.

    I hear (lol) what you guys are saying...don't sacrifice the sound of the system for the look of it. So I have now set up my monitor 75's (monster's) as my front left rights a cs20 as my center and my tsi300's I'm trying as my surrounds! I turned up my receiver to 55 and the lights in the house would dim to the beat!! I'm not sure if I'm wasting the tsi's using them as surrounds....thoughts??

    +1 on the PSW 505! I have a 505, and PSW 110 and they are not even in the same league. While the 110 doesn't sound bad, the 505 digs much deeper and hits much harder. At 200 bucks the 505 is a steal.
