Hey guys, I just bought a CS1000p center channel for $260. Excellent condition, just has a few scratches on the bottom side. I was given a demo and everything sounded fantastic! Good highs, and low bass! I'll post pics later on.
Just want to know some of your opinions if I overpaid or got a fair deal!
Thank you guys!!

Here is a pic. I just have to replace two of the inserts where the little pegs slide into from the grill. The scratches are facing the bottom so no worries! Thanks guys! I could not have pass this deal up! I hope I wasn't shafted!

As well you should. That is arguably the best center Polk ever made and I think you got an excellent deal on it!!

Hello HTguru, Yes that was the one! Here I am just "looking" around the bay not wanting to buy anything..... then I came across that listing! I couldn't believe what I was reading! I thought it may have been a joke or a mistake! I must have re-read that posting 3-4 times, almost hit the buy it now, but took my chance with a best offer of said price. (was going to go even lower, but was afraid of him not accepting).
I felt like it fell on my lap, ie.. local p/u only, such a low price, & a CS1000 to boot!

I said to myself, I had to be crazy and not buy this thing! My wife didn't mind at all!! Submitted my offer (thought it was a fair price), within an hour in a half he accepted! Met him the next day, he gave me a demo on it, and I gave him the cash!! That was it, now it's in my home! I'm not sure what to do with my anemic CS350-LS now!Lol!

Hello Mystery, That CS1000 is just insane! I don't think I've heard a center channel that makes a movie come alive like this thing!
My CS350, I'm sorry to say, seems anemic compared to the CS1000! At least that's what I think, others may have a different opinion, or my have heard even better ones! For me and my set up, I couldn't ask for anything more! I'm very happy with it!

Now if I can get my PSW1200 plate amp repaired, I'll be like a kid in a candy store! The inept goons at the P/O must have thrown the package out of the truck while it was still moving!! The plate itself is bent on the corners, and the PC board with the capaciters were completly destroyed! Along with a bit of damage to the transformer!

I'd hardly call a 350 anemic. Not a fair comparo of 4 4.5 drivers vs 4 6.5's, 2 of which are powered. Love my 350, just sayin....

    Hello ken,
By all means, please don't take that the wrong way! I've enjoyed my CS350 for 13 years and performed without any problems at very high and low volume loads! I'm still keeping my 350, I didn't mean any harm by saying "anemic". It was just a figure of speach! You're absolutly correct, it's a completely different animal... we're comparing powered vs. non-powered. Yea, big difference. I hope I didn't offend you or anyone else. I'll be careful on my choice of words next time.
I still love my 350 and absolutly will not part with it!
I feel bad now, so shame on me!

I paid over $900 more than 10 years ago for my 1st CS1000p and have no regrets. $260 is a bargain.

I have since bought two more CS1000p's and now have three of them (one is NOS unused in the factory box).

    All are black.

I just bought another nice pair of RT3000 satellites today from rtart.

    I love the RT5000 stuff.

Gatecrasher, thank you! I'm slowly piecing together something similar to yours, which I must say.... that's a wicked system you have! I've heard newer Polk's and other brands of speakers, but for whatever reason, I keep coming back to the RT's!!
That's how much I enjoy them, although I wouldn't mind scoring a pair of vintage SDS. You know, the big-boys!

You are very lucky to have one that's NOS! I'm still on a quest for a good condition RT5000 or separate speakers to that system! Even looking foe spare amps! They of course have to be all black!

Ya I have already told dpowell (in person) that I hate him for the speakers he has sold (especially the SRT's)
He's still a great guy though.
The speaker kicks but and really shows when something isn't mixed quite right. Type O-, and Crash Test Dummies sound amazing.

Wow, that Paradigm would be interesting to listen to....but at about a $6K retail price...would consider something custom like this Acoustic Elegance TD10S's (10") along with a TD6M (6") and RAAL ribbon tweeter for less.

Would be cool to listen to all these big bad centers. Never got to hear the CS1000p back when Circuit City was around...and have not found one yet I'm willing to buy. Will see...

    It's rated at 1,000 watts

    No powered subs though

I'm going to have to compare the SRT to the CS1000p here when I get a chance.

I did. It took awhile to find one that was affordable but the LSiM706c is a perfect center with my SDA's. Glad you are enjoying the CS1000!

I wouldn't worry about the powered subs too much in the comparison. The SRT center channel can handle much higher volume levels. The CS1000 is matched perfectly to the RT3000's. When you get into the SRT arena, it's a whole different ballgame and you need a center speaker that isn't limited by the internal 100wpc amp that the CS1000 has. It's not knocking the 1000 but just that the SRT's can be driven at levels that the CS1000 cannot keep up with. That is the reason I did not return to the CS1000 for my SDA 2.3TLs. I believe the same holds true with them. The LSim706c can handle loads of power and has no problem keeping up with the SDA's. It also has a very similar vocal bass signature to the CS1000 which is the one thing I really wanted.
