LSiM703 Speaker Stands
OK...My new 'refurbished' 703's will be here Wednesday from Polk eBay. Thank you everyone for helping convince me to choose the 703's over the RTAi7's.
Now I'm in a quandry. I need speaker stands. I see a few here have listed stands that sell for $300 and up. Not to sound sarcastic but if I planned on spending that much for stands it almost sounds like towers may have been a choice I should have looked at harder....even though the 707's or 705's are quite a bit more.
The stands at kind of caught my eye that look like they may be sturdy enough for me are made by VTI. They have two relatively large diameter vertical tubes and the top plate looks like it should be able to hold the 703's....I hope and I believe I saw they sell for around $130 a pair.
I really do not want to drill holes in the bottom of the speaker. Another suggested using velcro, which may not be so bad. Its just me in my condo for now. I do not own pets or children. Though I may turn up the volume I don't plan on cranking it up so loud that a seismograph will look like one of my lie detector tests.

Give the VTI a try,I know you don't want to spend 300.00.but sometimes its money well spent.

I am handy...I just don't have the resources right now. The ones listed are the ones that are $300. I see they weight 35 lbs. but so do the ones that are half that price. I see the speaker shelf is smaller. I can't see the larger shelf justifying them costing twice as much. What is it about the ones in the link that justify them costing that much?

The only stands worth buying are the ones from Skylan or the Sanus Ultimates, IMO. VTI stuff is cheap junk.
Don't use Velcro and don't drill holes. Either spike the speakers or just place them on the stand.Political Correctness'.........defined

Let me add to my previous comments. Stands do make a difference. The ones from VTI are all steel and resonate like crazy. The ones from Skylan are made from MDF and PVC, completely non-resonating. The Sanus Ultimates are made from steel and a heavy composition base. They use cork gaskets between the top plate and the columns to help elimanate resonating. Both put a lot of thought and R&D into their products, which shows. You would have no problem seeing and hearing why they cost more.Political Correctness'.........defined

Honestly the only reason I haven't given the Lsi9's or Lsi7's a try is because i'm not willing to stick them on cheap stands and they do get expensive quick. Like everything in life you get what you pay for, and i'd do it once and do it right and not have any regrets. You're going to have an awesome setup!

I use these and I'm happy with them, though I'll admit I've never had better stands. I've got them filled with sand and they are very sturdy.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
