Well about a month ago I received a BAT VK500/BATPAK,and after unpacking and hooking up,it sounded great! However it kept popping the left channel fuses,so I had to send it into Vlad at BAT. He fixed the problem, and I've been in heaven ever since I got it back! Great guys at BAT! Big prop to FED-EX for pickin up the bill,as the guy I bought it from had shipping insurance, and swore it worked perfect when he shipped it.
Anywho,i've been doin alot of listening lately, and have been wondering what a different pre would sound like? I really like the idea of tryin to pair up the BAT sound with one of their pre's. Anybody have any experience with the BAT pre's? Open to other tube pre options also. Pre needs to be black, have a remote, and balanced inputs. Thanx for any/all suggestions good fellas!

Damn good amp. The natural choice would be a matching BAT pre.

Got the vk31 and love it. I might know of a possible vk31se that might be for sale. Great pre and I love the sound. I have enjoyed the full bat systems I've heard so far.

I have a VK-3i with some Amperex 7308's and some Bendix 5992's in it and it sounds great! I am running it with the VK-200 amp. I would get a BAT pre that does not require the 6H30 tubes as you will be limited to only Russian tubes this way and you won't be able to roll any through the pre. That is of course just my opinion. I have never heard a 6H30 tube, and they may be phenominal sounding but I still don't like the idea of not being able to use any other tube besides the 6H30's. A BAT pre would be a great great compliment to your VK-500 and that's where I would be looking, IMO. Keep us informed on what you choose.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Talked to Steve @BAT,and he suggested the VK5i,or the VK31se,or VK32se. He asked about my system, and what I was looking for sound wise, and suggested the VK5i. He said its a little smoother/romantic sounding, where the 31/32se's are more "balsy". These guys at BAT are great to talk to(to say the least)and are willing to help me pick a used amp out, without reservations! Very cool! There is a VK5i that just came up on the gon that appears mint! Gonna ck that out 1st! Thanx for the offer Chris,I'll keep[ it in mind. And thanx to the rest of the fella's on the BAT encouragement. Somethin about havin an all BAT system that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
On a side note, looks like the Jolida Fusion pre will be going on the chopping blocks pretty soon!
