Anybody know of or have worked with a speaker repair shop in Indiana or Illinois that you would recommend?
I want a backup plan for fixing these SDA's.

Will try to post a few pics later on the "inner guts" of these things, maybe someone will see something that looks "a miss"

won't hurt but in my experience when poly switches go bad they look the same. If they are SO bad that you could tell a difference chances are that you'd have no tweeters at all.
You are a little too far for me to help sorry bout that. -

Poly switch is the little tan disc thing above the yellow caps in the top picture on the top right it might say something like RDO or RDX and then some numbers. Those numbers tell what amperage it trips at. That is most likely the problem. You can replace with a mills resistor 1/2ohm 12 watt I believe or jump the circuit with a small piece of wire after you remove the poly switch. Some have just twisted so both legs touch like a bread tie. -

nope ....just old electrolytic caps that are past their prime IF they ever had a prime:eek:..
good poly film caps and better resistors would go a long way towards making them super sweet. Its a good amount of money to invest but 1000% worth every penny... just don't try to get by with cheap caps to save money. -
may I ask "good amount of money" ballpark guess???
