Wanted to pass along some personal news to the guys here at the forums....

First... my wife is pregnant! This will be our third (and final). Due date is probably late July or early August. I still gots it! (although I'm definitely getting it unloaded after this one!)

Second... I'm changing jobs. And if you want to know whether the forum can do anything for you besides audio or video... I'm going to work for Hbomb. He will become my boss in mid January.

So... a house to sell and **** to get rid of! But we have to take the crib off the list of things 'not to move.'

Pretty much a change of careers for me. Or better said, a merging of my previous two careers. I have a EE undergrad, worked engineering. Got an MBA in finance, worked technical finance. Now, I get to combine the two. The company engineers PCS systems.

    PCS = Personal Communications Service.

PolkThug - The only way to get something fixed is to complain and follow up. Unfortunately, it requires a Herculean effort sometimes.

I was a loyal PCS customer for 5 years. I had great service in Lincoln, NE, then I moved down to Kansas City and the service was awful (both the phone signals and customer service). Finally, I cancelled my service, and then the Sprint customer service became very helpful all of a sudden, they said that I qualified for a free phone and a cheaper unadvertised rate plan. Their approach to retaining a customer is all backwards. They should have offered me these deals before the last straw. Anyway, I've been on T-Mobile for 8 months and its been a great experience.

    Regards,
    PolkThug

*PS. Not trying to offend any Sprint people, I have good friends that work there, so I know some of the problems they face (like cities not letting them put up more towers, etc.)

Polk Thug - You are certainly one of the many unsatisfied Sprint customers....its the same with all Cellular/PCS carriers. We have been shot at, yelled at, ran off the road and had objects thrown at us, by disgruntled customers. Sprint customer service is legendary in being difficult. No offense taken here, I know all to well the problems that we have.

as long as you offer me a beer after the belly punch and knee to the nose all is GOOD!;)

I can't understand how it happened that where the Sprint World headquarters is the network is patched together and a pile of ****??? I think the reason is all the execs fight over who's house is more important to cover. Oh well its their loss due to mis-management of resources but IMHO SPCS deploys the worlds most sophisticated and elegant voice/data systems that is available.

I can't waite to have the pleasure to work with Mark. He is 1 of the most talented people I have pleasure of meating in a long time. Our office is going to be a riot to say the least and again congrats on the little 1.

Almost the exact same experieince here. I have never been able to get a signal in my home and it was sporatic at best out in the driveway.

Sprint CS never had a good solution to offer until I cancelled after my year was up... too late for my taste...

    Hunting a new service now...
    More later,

I'm really not a boss and should be considered as a radio frequency engineer. A portion of my responsibility is to insure talent is placed properly and then engineer big processors. Organization is very important and my main concern is without organization the engineering efforts are worthless. Burdette is an integral member of a team and his job is not to work for me, but rather organize a bunch of geaks(chk spl).

    Hope this explains it better

Well, even before an employment connection, we had a Sprint PCS phone and have been pretty happy. My wife didn't have service in the middle of nowhere Kansas on her way to Colorado Springs, and she couldn't get a signal on the moutaintops of Alaska. Otherwise, we've been pleased.
