G33000 assistance needed

I have a Sansui G33000 I bought from my uncle awhile back. He bought it while overseas serving in the air force. Sounds incredible. Can be a better or stronger player in need of higher end polks with some minor work. I have Polk Audio Monitor 60's on the A side, and a PSW10 sub on the B side. I cleaned all the switches with the appropriate De Oxit, and gained performance and clarity. The level meters still do nothing, and was curious what IC chip or otherwise I would need and where to get it to get them working. I know this machine hasn't been apart and is a virgin, until I cleaned the switches, at least. The next thing I am looking for assistance on, is the caps. Can I buy new ones or the material needed to recap ? I have noticed, when pushed, the unit is needing recapped. Any assistance would be appreciated highly. I look forward to talking the wife into some Polk's that can handle the peaks this unit can dish out, once recapped, and would love to see those level meters a swingin. The Sansui G33000 is a very nice Receiver. If you are serious about bringing this unit back to its best, go to Audiokarma.org and link into the forum called Exclusively Sansui. You will get all the help you will ever need for the G33000 or any other Sansui built. I did that for my Sansui AU-717 and now have the total caps list for all sections, and other electronic parts ( you can still buy all the caps ). I also have before and after pictures of the inside including all boards, and other sections completely taken apart. If you have questions just ask, as those guys really know their Sansui products....and are willing to help. You will likely find several threads already available for the G33000.

That receiver is one that should find its was to a true and serious professional, unless you are an expert yourself. I would only attempt cleaning and inspection myself on that one. They are far to rare and expensive to take a guess with IMHO.

yeah, I posted this on AK's site, replying to a similar concern...I understand. I do have some past experience replacing parts as a repair dude, mostly on the business side, but have rebuilt tuners, replaced IC chips and picture tubes, and some other repairs, so I didn't have to pay my techs on lower end jobs or to have my customers pay less. I just haven't replaced caps or recapped as yet, unless in a microwave, there some change outs. Not too many bridges built, ha. Without taking it apart and hoping to read existing caps, I was curious what replacements equal to OE were out there and what they were. The meters, yeah, not so sure I want to dive into that, but any schematics would help. I am only a SAMS photofact and reading glasses and bright light away from beng 80% capable of 80% of the repairs. Just reaching out to those more experienced on these units. Back when I fixed TVs and what not, we didnt have the internet yet in most households, including mine. Any repair person trustable in the Charlotte market ? But, I would prefer to tackle myself, with a bit of fear on the meters and their delicate feel, as well as not touching my tongue to the caps to see how much they hold currently. Ha, currently.
