is this speakers sound waves being defracted? and is the speakers preformance been deminished?
I'm planning on elevating the two shelfs. however even w/ elevated the second shelf will still hang over the top of speaker (unless a shorten it.
the left side was much easier.
Edit:is this speaker to close to the right wall?
Edit2: trying to avoid making a stand for the right side that sits on the floor.
Any advice
Thanks STB

That is definitely not the best place for it. They are two close to the wall behind and beside them. That will great effect bass frequencies, typically making them sound bloated or muddy.
Having the left speaker behind the front of the cabinet will hurt imaging since the high frequencies will bounce of the cabinet before reaching your ears.
I would attempt to bring the left speaker flush with the cabinet or place both speakers on the top of the cabinet.HT Rig Samsung 64F8500 |Pioneer Elite BDP-52FD|Pioneer Elite VSX-32| Two Carver TFM-15cb Bridged for mains|Polk Audio RTiA5 Cherry|Polk Audio CsiA6 Cherry|Polk Audio T-15 Heights|Polk Audio FXia6 Surround|DIY 8cuft Dayton Ultimax 15" powered with a Crown XLS1000

OK actualley since I took this image I have relocated the right away from wall about the same distance the left speaker is from the cabinet.

I was reading up on Molex speaker pads and a expert mentioned that the pad was causing difraction since the front of pad obstructs the speakers drivers so I was thinking my top and bottom shelf are also interfering w/ preformance.
edit. the front of the speaker is 21" from the back wall.

Must be a optical illusion. Because that speaker looks like its set back about about 6". Symmetry is a big thing for me, but if it sounds better at ear level then thats what it should be at for sure.HT Rig Samsung 64F8500 |Pioneer Elite BDP-52FD|Pioneer Elite VSX-32| Two Carver TFM-15cb Bridged for mains|Polk Audio RTiA5 Cherry|Polk Audio CsiA6 Cherry|Polk Audio T-15 Heights|Polk Audio FXia6 Surround|DIY 8cuft Dayton Ultimax 15" powered with a Crown XLS1000

I'm not concerned about the left speaker I'm thinking the shelf protruding on top and bottom of right speaker should be shortened?Samsung PN58C500/Amp: Yamaha RX-V465/Polk DSW1KProSub/DefTECH SM450/C1CC/Pro80/Sony BPX37 BD/Magnavox515/ HTPC-CPU: I3 550, 3.2 GHz/Mobo: Intel H57/RAM: 6GB DDR3 1333/HDD: 1TB/2TB Internal, 1TB external/Tuner: 1600-950 Haupague/W7 64 OS Remote: Harmony 700

well I moved the right SM450 forward on the shelf (I attach image) dam it's like a complete new sound sys. major improvement.
I'm trying to figure out how to mount the right speaker same as I have the left it will take some planning or somekindof 90 degree mounting bracket.
1.when I relocated the speaker to the near edge of the lower shelf the top shelf needs to be at the edge also correct? like the top shelf can't hang over the speaker?
2.I used a broad to temporary support the SM450 notice how it's created a corner for the sub.? I'm not sure which made the most difference the broad or the relocation of the sm450 or combination of both but it seams to have substandsionalley increased the bass.
3.what do you think of my acoutistic treatment?
