Plasma TV buzz and surge protector vibration

I just picked up a Panasonic P55UT50 plasma tv and I've read that buzzing from plasma TV which varies depending on screen brightness/color is normal, but I noticed when the buzz gets louder (pure white screen) I can feel my surge protector vibrate with it. The surge protector is a Tripp Lite AVBar8. I'm not sure if this is normal or if it will end up damaging my surge protector in the long run. I'd appreciate any insight or if someone with a plasma TV could see if their surge protector vibrates with the plasma buzz.

The vibration isn't being mechanically transferred to the surge protector through the cord.

Not normal. I would plug tv directly to outlet, and see if buzzing stops. May also want to try different outlet, on different circuit

The TV isn't connected to any other device and the buzzing continues when plugged directly into the outlet. I had it hooked up on a different circuit earlier and it still buzzed when displaying a bright screen. I've read that the buzzing in plasma TVs is fairly common how loud the buzzing is depends on the room acoustics and how sensitive the listener/viewer is. I'm more concerned with the surge protector vibrating at the same frequency and intensity as the TV buzz.

Does anyone else have a surge protector that vibrates when their plasma TV buzzes with a white/bright screen? I understand it isn't something people would normally check for, but I happen to notice it when I was unplugging something while running a slide show on the TV.

Ok, I switched out my Tripp Lite AVBAR 8 with two other surge protectors that I have and no mechanical vibrations could be felt on the surge protectors. Kind of odd. One is an ISOBAR and the other is a Tripp Lite eco surge protector.

Every plasma I've owned has had at least some buzzing, some worse than others. It's one of the few reasons I switched over to LED, even though I'd stsill argue plasma offers a better picture.

A friend of mine has a Panasonic plasma and it was getting very hot and occasionally shutting itself off. He had it on a protector with his beast Parasound amp and Panasonic told him something about it being very sensitive to voltage changes or something like that and to move it to a different outlet. I told him that sounded dumb to me, but he did it and it solved his problem. Personally I'd have still returned the TV but he's ok with it as is.

I have read reports of panel buzzing but thankfully it is not an issue with my recently acquired Panny 50ST50.The Tripp lite may have been vibrating due to the extra current draw required by the panel as it displayed the brighter image?

I had a slight buzzing from my Panasonic P50ST30 when I first bought it. Originally had it mounted on its stand, aprx 4 inches from the wall. Because of upgrades, and SQ issues, I've moved the TV aprx 14 inches from the wall. I no longer have any buzzing issues.

The TV is still warm, but not as much as before, and as stated above, dead silence, after 30 minutes of run time and muted. Tey moving it a little farther away from the wall, and allowing it room to exhaust heat. It may or may not help, but could be worth a try.

My newer Panasonic Plasma buzzing becomes more pronounced as the image becomes lighter and lighter, buzzing the loudest when the screen is pure white.

Buzzing isn't loud enough to distract during HT use however.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

Is this common for all plasma TV's? I am in the market for a new TV and was planning on plasma for the wider viewing angle and PQ.

The buzzing from my TV is hardly noticeable with a low volume setting when playing normal content. I may end up putting acoustic damping material behind the TV in the future for that extra peace of mind. I'm sure the seating position and acoustics of your room will play a role in how loud the buzz is. My TV is wall mounted in a mid-sized bedroom and I sit roughly 7ft away. It's very tolerable and well worth the PQ improvement versus LCD panels IMO.

I thought my minor pop and crackling sounds I got from my lcd was weird, but this does interest the hell out of me. To have your
surge protector vibrate in step w/ the tv w/ a bright picture is just intriguing to me. My deal was just heat and that the tv is made
of plastic that has to breathe and to dissapate the heat there are vents all around and the ocassional clicks and pops.Have fun
resolving this one, definitly let us know.

My Samsung Plasma does not buzz...

I've had it wall mounted (low profile-flush mount) and now on the stand with it's back basically open and neither positions have ever buzzed.

It was hooked up to a Monster power strip at first and for the last year on an APC H15 and both have never had issue.
