I don't have any waterfall charts for this movie. Pretty strong LFE with the cannon fights, etc. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary, though - maybe 30-40 Hz stuff.

The biggest LFE hit in the movie by far is when Capt. Jack Sparrow sees the gold medallion under water for the first time on the hottie and a huge shockwave rips across the sea. That RATTLED the room. I'd like to see a waterfall chart for that passage.

    What a surprise.

Ring Drop? Probably around the same frequency, but totally different in sonic signature. Like somebody touched off a nuke underwater.

The LFE track is not too heavy in POTC compared LOTR-TTT-EE & T3. I enjoyed the cannon shots though.

I recently watched LOTR-TT-EE on my new Yamaha RX-V1400 and I was totally blown away by the clarity of sound and deep bass. I recently bought Digital COAXIAL 3.3ft (Monster Interlink Datalink 100) cable. Very thick, 24k gold, solid cable. I still have to buy 2 rear channel speakers for 7.1 setup. Can't wait to watch in THX SURROUND EX all over again! and also DPLIIx for DPL movies in 7.1.

Digital Coaxial is far better than Optical cable. It makes the hell of a difference.
I LOVE COAX now! I used Optical for 3 years. Now, I truly believe in COAX.

All speakers set to small and X-over @ 80hz (THX Standard) the dream of jaw-dropping sound finally come true.

I have that same cable feeding my Marantz SR5000 which in-turn feeds my Adcom Amps. I'm surprised you were able to tell a difference. I could not between that and a Monster Fiber Optic cable. They both sounded identical to my ears. I only went COAX for durability reasons.

The bass in Pirates is decent and compliments the soundtrack nicely without being overpowering. Yes, the medallion sea drop is excellent. Several times during a neighborhood screening last Friday it got several WOW's during some bassy moments. It was great.

    Peace Out~:D

Thanks for bringing that up Ron. I have not tried BOTH. But everyone that has CANNOT tell a difference. Especailly a night and day difference like hamzahsh is experiencing. Don't make me run out and buy another cable....lol I think DC is gaining alot of popularity recently not to mention earlier DD recievers did not even offer a DC input.

What I like about horns is the type of bass you get. The sound if you will. It is not a punchy bass or a boomy bass. It's just fills the room, like air. It surrounds you but can still shake the foundation. I bought these after hearing them at a audio meet I went to at the designers house.

Awesome! I bet the bass quality is a lot like an IB system.

I recently helped a friend build an IB with twin Stryke AV-15 and it sounds just how you described.
