getting a turntable

Hello , After talking w/ a very old friend of mine and the time we had at a particular concert got me to think about
getting a tt. The concert was at New Paltz May70 and the YoungBloods were taking crowd shots. Well one of
those shots made it to the back cover of the album called Rock Festival.I knew I was on it and I am clearly visible.
I just got it from DeadWax as for right now as a momento but I am seriously considering getting a tt. I had and was
very happy w/ my Dual 1229 at the time and it might be in the running for a 1st contender. So what I'm asking and
budget w/ me is always an issue what other choices would be in contention.I would like it w/ a wood base,a
cart and stylus on and a dust cover w/ no repair issues. The Duals I've seen go from low of $50 and up depending on model ,condition and brand of cartridge.I've heard great things about Thorens but not many others except the newer Technics type which I really do not like .
Another big concern w/ me is that new all tt are made to be shipped ,used not so much so besides feedback
is shipping a used tt a good idea.Tops w/ shipping would be $225.00 complete....

I have several Sony, Pioneer, and Technics direct drives. All ready to go and $125 or less. The only one with a wood base would be Pioneer PL-510. You can also take home a nice looking Dual 1229Q that won't power up and spin for $20.

Good luck with your new endeavour but please don't start a thousand threads about your adventure !!!!!!! smiley_rotflmao.gifIf you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

With a ruler, from the top of the credit box 3 1/2'' dead center you'll see a blonde dude w/ his left hand waving,to right of him
is an obscured face. The next dude is me ,w/ an acid grin a mile wide w/ an open collerd shirt w/ nipple exposed. Now the back
story. The blondes' platonic uncle was Dee Anthony the manager of Ten Years After,Joe Cocker and Peter Framton. Sunday we
were on stage and as long as you didn't get in the way and kinda looked like you belonged no one hassled you.Security was nill,
the show opened w/ The Airplane then Joe Cocker and the entire 30 piece or so band w/ Leon Russell being being both band leader
piano player and also played guitar. Things were so loose they even called up their bus driver who played a great harmonica to join in on a couple of tunes. At 17 to see the inner workings of rock and roll was the ultimate thrill and Bill Graham actually remembered me from back east after I moved to S.F.which gave me some lattatude to some of the west coast shows. I do have many more s2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Got the album too & I still enjoy it. Bet it was a fun show. Good luck with "Adventure Turntable".

decal,hochpt21 asked .So instead of being impolite I informed him and others of the "adventure".You don't approve kishmeirintuchas.
I agree that my concert goings and proximity of some of rocks greatests might not be for this forum but instead belong at the Dozin
site where actual concert experiences far out weigh what your little Polks could ever reproduce, whatever the model.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

are you talking about? I could care less about your name dropping and grandiose delusions . BTW, I do not own any Polk speakers. If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

name dropping to impress for sure. You listen to music made by the some of the people I actually have met, talked and partied with. Delusional no, reality in a former time YES.Sorry I assumed you owned Polks I do apologize for that. And just one other thing , you
don't have to respond. After all the thread was for advice on getting a tt.

I just asked that you not start a thousand threads about the same thing as you tend to do. I was refering to your new turntable adventure not your name dropping crap. No, it doesn't impress and yes you are delusional if you think it does, but feel free to boost your ego as you see fit.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

I have four turntables.
Micro-Seiki dd40
Pioneer PL 550
Beomaster (some model)
Technic SQ some model
I am to lazy to go check the models. What I am getting at is that there is not a big difference in the sound. Get a decent cheap turntable to start. The cartridge/stylus make more of a difference.
Craigslist is your friend. Once you have one and love listening to vinyl (as I am sure you will, as you have done in the past). Then maybe get a "nicer" turntable. That is my advice.
Btw I am impressed. Sounds like you had some amazing experiences!I got static in my head
The reflected sound of everything
