I bought a full RT 5000 set tonight, the seller helped me load it up and off I went. I got home and was unloading them (alone) and saw that the base on one of the RT3000p's was cracked (the plastic base) on the back right corner. When I set the speaker down, the crack looks worse (from the weight) and it looks like the whole corner may break off some day.

Ideally, I am seeking a new base that I can just swap out. I dont want to try and epoxy it or anything if I can find the base. If a base isnt readily available, I will gladly buy a damaged full RT3000P for the parts.

Thanks so much!

Hey, sorry about what happened... I'll keep an eye out for you! If by any chance I come across one, I'll pick it up for you, then let you know! I just about went crazy looking for my RT3000's, so I know what it's like!

I do have a pair of the subwoofer units in the rosewood. Neither one is fully functioning right now (both amps have issues and one driver seems to rub). I keep meaning to fix them, but don't seem to get around to it. I could sell one or both for parts. I am in Arlington, VA.

Absolutely, I would love to buy them from you I am actually pretty close to you (Ashburn, by Dulles).

How would you want to coordinate?

That is so awesome, thanks so much!

You'll find a lot of the RT3000 plastic sub bases will be cracked. This usually comes from shipping or moving them in an upright position with the base attached. When Polk originally packaged these, they went into the box upside down with the plastic base attached but facing up encased in styrofoam. Every one I have ever seen that was shipped with the base facing down has been cracked.

Really the safest way to ship or move these is to remove the plastic base. It comes off real easy with a few Phillips screws that screw into threaded inserts.

Its weird, the set in question I physically went and picked up myself. The guy was the original owner, but had moved to the DC area from Ohio or something. I think it may have been broken for a while, probably happened when the moved.
