IMHO, I'd lean toward an Adcom 555II or much better yet (if you can find one) an Adcom 5802, but twice the price

I have done several test in my home for adcom 555 vs carver 35X vs sunfire 300X2. What it boiled down to is what kind of sound do you like? The sunfire was warmer sounding. The adcom was a good amp but got hot on the top end and got a bit ringy sounding for my taste. The carver had more bass to it and a big mellower on top.
Testing was done with sda 2.3, jolida cd, at the time i had a carver c-19 and a McIntosh c39 pre. For my taste, the sunfire sounded better with the sda's.
Change to the vandersteen 3a i had, the results was much different. With the vandies, the adcom was a fantastic match while the sunfire and carver sounded duller. Sometimes its about matching the speakers with the amp or just what your taste is in sound.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
I ran a pair of SdA 2B's with a 545II for sometime, pushed them long periods louder than needed to be and the 545II barley got warm, no distortion. They say that 100 wpc is conservitive and more like 130 wpc @ 8ohms. If your getting a good deal try it out you might be surprised, and if not they sell pretty fast. I recently got a 555II and now use that to power the 2B's and kept the 545II to power a pair of SDA CRS+s. I like them both.
Although not sure if those monitor 70s are harder to drive than 2B's i've never heard them.Home Theater

Adcoms are very nice sounding, reliable amps. As stated above, A LOT has to do with what speakers you will be runnng with them. Not familiar with M70s, but I know they need power and the 555 series has plenty of it. You should be able to find one between 300 and 350. Another option for less money is a Kenwood Basic M2 or M2A amp. 220 wpc and pretty balsy. There is one for sale on the forum here.

Someone local here offered me a good condition Carver TFM 35X for $125 a while back. But I was business trip for a month. I guess I should pick it up.MAIN:
