2ea. Custom built Tyler Acoustic Self-Powered Stereo Subs

Up for grabs are a pair of mint condition custom built Tyler Acoustic stereo subs. These are the ones Trey [VR3] used in his system before I acquired them, making me the second owner. They have always been in a smoke-free environment, have never been abused and have always been well cared for. Each sub is self-powered with 500 watt plate amp, so no additional equipment is needed to make them jump in and augment the lower registers of your system. They are ported in the rear and each one includes the reliable and respected Seas 10" woofer. All crossover adjustments are provided in the back and they will turn off automatically after not sensing any signal after about 10-15 minutes. When a new signal is picked up, they will automatically turn on. Of course, if you want, you can manually turn them off as well. Both sub inputs are RCA [L & R] and LFE compatible.

Both subs have the grills that are magnet mounted and you don't even see the magnets. They are located behind the veneer on the subs and behind the cloth on the grills. I will also include 2 MIT "Y" splitters for your convenience and I'm sure I have some IC's laying around that I will include as well so with this purchase, the entire stereo sub setup will become plug and play for you.

My asking price is $1,250.00 plus shipping and insurance. I'm located in Charlotte, NC and can travel down to Atlanta area at pretty much anytime. If you are located along this route, we can work something out so that shipping them won't become necessary. I will include pictures as soon as I find the cable that hooks up my camera to the computer. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and thanks for looking.

Fantastic woofer, I used them in a 3 way and still believe they have the best bass out of anything I've built. Measured distortion is lower than any other 10" woofer I've seen.

Hello, vcwatkins. I can't say with 100% certainty but it sure does look exactly like the one that's in these subs. It's definitely the right size. You might want to wait for someone who is more knowledgeable about the Seas lineup of woofers to verify this though. BTW, each sub weighs in at a cool 120 pounds and the dimensions are 13w x 14d x 30h.

Yes, that's it. The copper phase plug not only looks pretty, but acts as a heat sink.

    Thanks for clarifying that Face. One more thing. I'll go ahead and add that the plate amp in these subs are Daytons. Some of the highlights of these amps include;

High power class AB output stage
    Patented tracking downconverter power supply
    Full parametric bass EQ
    Phase reversal switch
    Advanced soft clip circuitry
    Toroidal power supply transformer
    Auto On/Off

    As for the parametric EQ the Dayton's incorporate, here's some additional information;

EQ-Frequency: Establishes the specific frequency at which EQ boost or cut may be applied between
    18 Hz and 80 Hz.

EQ-Bandwidth: Determines how narrow or wide the EQ curve will be within a range of 0.1 to 1.0. If for example
a frequency of 60 Hz were selected along with a Q of 0.1, the frequencies to either side of 60
Hz would be less affected. This is a narrow bandwidth that could be useful for “surgically”
removing an offending peak without disturbing adjacent frequencies. At the other extreme, a Q
of 1 would result in a much broader effect which could be used for smooth overall bass boost or
cut, to balance the overall tone character of the sub.

EQ-Level: Permits the application of up to 6dB of boost or 14.5dB of cut at the selected frequency and
bandwidth. Setting the control at the 0 position effectively removes the EQ from the circuit path.
It is good to remember that high levels of boost reduce amplifier headroom; it is the same as
turning up the low pass gain control but only at the selected EQ frequencies. It would be helpful
to reduce or increase the low pass gain control to balance the amount of cut or boost applied
    by the EQ

One additional note - Neither sub have ever had a hum [whatsoever] in Trey's house or mine.

I wanted to say that I owned these subs for a year or so and decided to part with them to downsize and I can honestly say they are a very accurate subwoofer, not the deepest or the loudest but musically they are a top notch performer! :)

Do we know who these were finished? I have a friend who would be interested in these if I am willing to make them piano Black.

She has a Yamaha Grand Piano in her multimedia room and likes things to match.

My personal feeling is it would be a sin to cover that wood but I am not the one that would be buying.

Hello, littlewoodboats. These were finished by Ty himself at his factory in Owensboro, Kentucky. He does not offer a piano black finish and even if he did, he does not re-do finishes. With that said, you will have to either do it yourself or contract a professional in order to have them refinished. The retail for both of these custom subs would have been 4K and with the asking price of only $1,250.00, the amount saved would more than cover the cost of a professional refinish.

Thanks for answering the answer about the finish, decal but as Trey had mentioned, they are actually a Rosewood finish. You might have mistaken that finish with the finish that is on the mains, which are Ribbon Mahogany.

It's all good. They are both beautiful wood grains IMO.

I'd like to add that the only reason I'm selling these is so that I can do what we are planning on doing to my Tyler Acoustic Linbrook Signature Series loudspeakers and the upgrades associated. If it weren't for this, I would see no reason to let these beautiful subs go.

Come on guys, these subs are just too daggum nice to be sitting in my closet collecting dust. What will it take to entice some folks into acquiring a great stereo set of subs?

I'd like to remind you that these are custom subs built by Ty himself. There is no model number because they are custom and you will not find any information on them because of the fact that they are custom built. The Seas drivers speak for them self and cost 8 Franklin's alone. With a parametric EQ w/built in 500w amplifiers on each sub, supplied spikes, PC's, IC's and a set of MIT "Y" cables to optimize each sub, there is nothing more to purchase. Plug and play baby, ready to optimize the subs to each sub's respective location and your room.

Price drop to $1,175.00 even. Will this entice you?

I wish I had the space for them. Those would work wonders with my Signature Monitors.

    Ty builds really nice stuff.

OK guys, how about a crazy-insane price drop? I need these gone to help fund my crossover upgrade gone wild.

How about $1,000.00 even? Or, I can drive and hand deliver up to 500 miles at $1,175.00 and you won't have to worry about shipping costs. I will leave these subs on this forum at this price for one week, after that, I will move them onto other sale avenues at a much higher price. This is as low as I will go. These subs are bound to make someone really happy. My loss is your gain, get them before someone else does!

^^^ Take it from him, he's the original owner! ^^^

Tell you what, I'll sweeten the deal even more for those who need a longer IC to make this happen for them. I will go ahead and throw in a set of 14 foot long AudioQuest Sidewinder IC's seen up for sale [in the link below] INCLUDED in with this deal. Well, that is if they are still available when someone purchases these subs.
