Blu rays coming with standard DVDs

when will they stop forcing me to buy the standard DVD when I purchase Blu rays? Keep the DVD and charge me less dangit! I don't care about the digital copy either while I'm at it. i have never been interested in being able to watch a movie on my tiny phone screen (NO ONE GOT TIME FOR THAT) I buy the movie to watch it on the big screen with big sound.
OK, now to watch Casino Royale on Blu ray that I purchased for $7.99 new that came with a standard DVD. have fun all and turn it up loud! :cheesygrin::cheesygrin:

on a side note this is my 1,111 post, I find that kind of kewl.

    I actually like getting the standard version, especially for the kids movies. That way we have a copy for home (bluray) and a cooy for the cars (standard) on long road trips or for when we go camping and tge weather sucks, etc.

    I worry that all physical media is slowly going away and that one day I'll be forced to download a movie. Hopefully not the case.

    I keep the blu-ray and pirate the DVD to China. I can usually recoup the purchase cost, put I get paid in official Chinese printed US currency.

    Music wise, that may be the case, but movies especially blu-ray take up alot of memory and bandwidth when streaming. Plus you'd need a top tier internet connection or you might experience drop outs, stuttering, etc. I think we are safe on the physical media for movies for awhile anyway.

    Although everything you said is true, many countries already have great internet connection. Even though, US and Canada are lagging behind such countries as Japan, we still have good enough connection to stream 1080p/5.1 or even 3D movies. In fact, Netflix is already streaming some HD and 3D movies in US. I'd love to think that they will keep selling physical media, but it probably won't last more than several years.

    I too fear this and will be very sad. still not a fan of streaming movies they just don't look or sound that great. I have spent to much time and money to watch or listen to compressed media.
    I must look into this selling my SD DVD copy.

    A client of mine sold his video store 2 years ago (he had a GREAT location, almost no other stores literally for miles), but he assured me that from what he heard, DVDs and even Blurays would be gone within 8 - 10 years. Hmmm, OK, I don't see that, but who knows, maybe his source is a good one. He admitted that Blockbuster and NetFlix were both killing his biz, though, and figured he'd cut his losses while he could.

    As for the OPs complaint? Do what I do; keep the Bluray, and donate the DVD to a church, school, library, or community arts center, and take the full value on the tax write-off. To date I have done this almost 50 times, at $14.99 - $19.99 each, it adds up fast : )
    Just make sure you get a receipt!
    So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

    Just another marketing ploy to force you into buying things you don't need anyway. Don't care what format it is,having to buy two to get one just does not make sense!

    Actually not hard to do the same with a Bluray. Larger file obviously, but worth it, especially if you are viewing on larger screens. I started doing this about 6 months ago. I use MakeMKV and Handbrake to shrink it down to about 10-15GB per movie. I ysually strip away the lossless audio track and keep the core DTS or DD. Image quality is nearly indistinguishable from the original. If it weren't for the fact that my WDTV Live Hub (my media server) won't pass DTS-HD, I would probably keep the lossless as well.

    The movies I have bought you could get the BluRay only for $19.95 or the BluRay, DVD, and Digital Copy for $24.95, or 3D BluRay, BluRay, Dvd, and Digital Copy for $29.95.

    Just cause they offer it and ya can't find the BluRay only doesn't mean they are forcing you to buy something you don't need.
