I've got a 2252B in my office rig, bought in new in the late 70's. Probably need to have it gone through (1 channel out sometimes). Curious what something like this cost you.

It sounded fantastic before i brought it in, just got it back today and havent even hooked it up yet.will set it up this weekend with a pair of polk 5jr+'s i have recaped, figure it should be a little better but. According to the tech it was in real nice shap as it was. Some minor clean up of some solder joints, a tweek here and there to some of the pots and clean the switches and set the am/fm sect. Basicly a 30+ year tune up! Marance must have built this one pretty well.he said it didnt look like anyone jad been in it before.

I have the previous 2265 (no b) version. And let me tell you, if you have some classic Monitors (See the Monitor 10As below). This thing LOVES them.

So I expect those Monitor 5jr+ to sound wonderful when you do get them hooked up. I currently have my KLH 17s hooked to it and an old Technics TT. my go to for a quick vinyl listen, but as soon as I get down to Jersey and pick up some grills for my 10s (from a fellow Polkie, great guy, great offer!). I'll be running the 10As on this; there is a "real" synergy with this combo! The KLH sound fine, but they're better on "tubes"!

    Enjoy!

Im just trying to find a place for this amp, currantly im using a parasound 800ll for the "b" system in my bedroom and just not sure if the marantz can "dethrown" the parasound? But will find out this weekend.i like the idea of hooking a tt to it and having a truly vintage vynal and cd and maybe a tape deck (just for grins) systen in the bedroom. It would look cool on my 2nd rack there.( pretty blue lights and all LOL) would need to find a silver faced tape player and a nice vintage tt and away i go.

All i can say is very nice! Well its not all i can say but i dont think there is a new reciever out there that can beat it for leas than "stupid money". Sweet, warm sounding, nice detail and lots of umph. Not to mention its PURDY!!!. Kind of stands out amomgst all of my black face audio equip. Did i say Purdy? Oh ya FM is to die for! Never really cared FM sound before but this FM section has SOUL! Over all marantz did a real nice job with this amp, i guess thats why they are still around and sought after. And didi i mention PURDY!!! LOL.

Jad to follow up with this as i have had several hours with it now. The cd sounds fantastic amd i actually prefer the cd sound to the parasound (must hook it to the DAC next) it has a smoothness that the 800ll dosent have. CNH may be correct it does seem to really like the 5jr+'s alot, there may just be a senergy with them.it is not what i call "critical listening quality" but very enjoyable to listen to, almost soothing. Will see if it is just the newness or if it still pleases me after a few more days of listening.but i will say is by far the best sounding "reciever" i have ever heard.over the years ive had pioneers, yamaha's technics, ect.ect. No compairison at all.

I've always loved the 70's Marantz look.
I owned some back in the day, and a few since.
I'm glad they are back as a higher end brand

Ok "stick a fork in my ****, i done" just hooked my gda700 (modded DAC) to the marantz. Picked up all the punch and detail that the parasound 800ll offered over the 2265B. Still has all the warmth and smoothness but with the punch and attack in the music i liked in the parasound.the 800ll may be history. Not sure yet but not looking good! LOL. Turning into a great 2nd system.

IMO nothing looks better than a Marantz... receiver or separates,,, that guy must have had a time machine so he could look in to the future so he could see how good the things he designed in the past would look to us as we got older.
