Help me pick a sub/subs for around $1,500

I'm finishing up piecing my "Home Theater on a budget" together and need help on picking up a sub or two.
My budget is higher that when I originally posted a sisilar topic two years ago so....

It's going in the basement but will be the "primary" HT in the house.
It will also be used for listening to music as well.

The basement dimensions are about 22'x27'x7'ceiling.
The HT will be in the corner of the basement.

The components I have are:
Amps:
Pre- Anthem AVM20
Amps- Anthem MCA20(fronts) & Parasound HCA 1205A(center & surrounds)
Speakers:
RTI12(fronts), CS400i(center), RTI4 x 4(surrounds)

I'm looking for a descent sub or two but really don't want to spend more than $1500 total.

So far I have been quoted $1540 for two new DSWmicroPRO 3000's
OR
$1000 for two SVS PB12-nsd subs

My Preamp has outputs for two subs so I'm not opposed to getting two subs.

Any help is much appreciated.

A lot of ED companies have some great product in your price range. If it we're me, I'd go dual's for mostly HT. Look around at HSU, Outlaw, Epik.. If it was my money two of these would get the job done and more..

Consider Rythmik Audio as well as the others mentioned above. I went with the sealed F15HP and it produces very tightly controlled bass (adjustable damping) and much more output that I need for my 15x20x9 room. The ported FV15 is well within your price range and should fit the bill for music and movies. avsforum would be a good place to look for more info.

It is very difficult to properly setup two separate subwoofers in a room. Receivers/processors with Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 can do it, as well as stand-alone SVS AS EQ-1. Took me a long time to find proper positions for my two subs with using MultiEQ XT and Velodyne SMS-1. Was getting two huge dips on my room frequency response until finally found a good spot for 2nd sub. So it may be easier to go with a single very good sub instead of experimenting with two.

If you can invest the time to properly setup 2 subs or go with something auto calibrates both subs you will be fine. That is a alot of cf to preasurize.

I would get the most sub I could for my budget and hope it is enough in your room, if you keep it localized to the HT area you may be ok.

For HT the Polk 505 is a nice unit. The floor on price dropped right out of them, I bought one from Amazon for
$189 shipped and for the $1,500 you have in your budget you could get a 6-pack of them and have coin left over for some OSHA approved hearing protectors and a set of seat belts for your couch.:loneranger:

Glad I could help. They get great reviews and make a killer product. I would also recommend a stub eq like a velodyne sms1. It will make seer up much easier.
