Not really looking for a CD player at the moment, but I know NAD is quality, and I plan on eventually adding a player of some sorts to my 2 channel setup. I dont have any SACD's and dont know if its something I would need so missing it is ok. So thoughts on this particular unit from the masses appreciated.

Its listed for around 150 and looks to be in good condition.

Thats a lower price then I normally see for the C542 in good condition. Reviews I have read in the past were pretty much positive for this cd player. Very Good bang for the buck. I looked at one today on line that had an asking price of $300.

It is a pretty special CD player in its price class. I have an extra new original laser if you ever need one. Plays hdcd too. I had a shootout with 2 CD players costing much more and the c542 beat them in my rig.

I've had one since they came out, bought mine new. For a little bit it liked to skip every once in a while and after reading much on the NAD pick-ups and such I was worried. However, for the last couple of years it's been flawless in that arena (I did grease the guides in the meantime though).

As for sound quality I really like it. Very smooth and detailed, not harsh at all, at least in my rig. Nad is famous for smoothness.

I don't own, nor ever have messed with SACD so I can't help you there.
