Hello all.

Just wanted to share a few pics of my RC80i in-ceiling speaker install project. This is in the basement area of our new house.

I was a little intimidated at first as I am fairly handy, but by no means a professional, but once I dug in...it actually turned out to be pretty fun, and very rewarding.

Here goes...

I got pretty lucky A) that there was drop ceiling and B) there were floor/ceiling joists that were perfectly spaced for the project.

I took some 1"x8" boards and cut and nailed them to create a 'box' for the speaker.

Next I stapled some insulation in said box.

Then I attached some MDF to the ceiling tile to help support the weight of the speaker.

Then I just slid that sucker back up in the ceiling and ran the speaker wire through the ceiling tiles to the back of the room where the AVR is.

Hope you like...

Once we fix our little water pipe incident, I will post pics of the whole basement home theater project!

Nice, installed some inceilings myself and came to realize its was a very easy process. All in all it took me less than 1 hours to install and run wires.

Took me more than an hour, but wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I only got to enjoy them for about 5 min before the water pipe burst. I've since listened more and they sound really nice. Won't be able to fully calibrate until we get that pipe fixed soon.
