Well that worked out nicely

Picked up a NAD 7400 for $ 60 off CL. A vacuum, some contact cleaner & polish & shine & we're in business. Had some feedback issues with the phono so I grounded the phono to the receiver & the receiver to the house ground . No more hum. All good. Receiver sounds great. Bad news is one of my new Monitor 70s is defective - like listening thru a blanket. That puppy is going back to the mothership for replace or repair.

Congrats Bob. Sorry to hear about your speaker. Hopefully it gets sorted out quick.

Did you try the speaker on opposite channels to make sure the problem followed the speaker?

He mentioned a problem with the speaker on a previous post before he got the NAD.

Just have to know how to use CL and CL apps.
DL one of the better ranked CL smartphone apps, and set up to notify you of postings for your specific criteria.

Also, if you're looking for something very specific, do a Google site search.
Example Search: Polk Audio RTA site:craiglist.org
This will search all of Craigslist for Polk Audio RTA not just your immediate city.

Nothing on CL in my area except other people's junk.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

It's only recently I learned of the Google site search but it has made searching CL outside of my home site WAY easier.

decal, I know what you mean. Seems like nothing ever shows up local. I usually have to go 2 or 3 cities away for decent stuff that is usually gone by the time I actually get to those cities in my searches.

I drove an hour each way to demo the receiver in a garage with crummy little speakers. I heard a CD; the tuner without an antenna; did not hear phono output. So the potential for a $60 fail was certainly there. I got lucky this time. Thanks for the awesome CL shopping tips.
