Using an LSi9 in lieu of an LSiC

HI,

Can anyone tell me if there is any real difference between an LSi9 and an LsiC other than the cabinet sizing? I've got the chance to pick up a single LSi9 and thought it might make a great center channel speaker to compliment my existing LSi9s.

Thanks for your reply/knowledge.

I've done both... the difference is that the LSi9 sounds BETTER as a center than the LSiC does... especially if you're mating it with 9's as fronts!

You can read the schematics here towards the bottom ... they look pretty similar to me...I have the lsic in place now...may have to try a 9.

Three identical speakers for the front stage is the ideal way to go. A dedicated center is mainly for placement issues. Not many setups allow for a matching 3rd speaker especially if the two mains are floorstanders. If using a matching center speaker it should be positioned upright just like the mains. They are not designed to be laid horizontaly.

all (3) 9's upright at the same height would be ideal, but a 9 on its side still sounds better than a C.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Just curious why it would matter whether the LSi9 is standing up or on its side?

Place your mains on their side & report back your findings. There's just too much to go into as to why.

Lobing. Uneven frequency response over a horizontal plane.
