The site of of the last Beatles concert, the 1989 Bay Area World Series between the SF Giants and the Oakland A's (featuring the Loma Prieta earthquake), The Catch (plus many other 49ers heroics by Montana, Young, Rice, and company)....

Candlestick Park to be destroyed with 30 second implosion after next football season

At least the stadium doesn't go out with the indignity of being called Monster Park (as in Monster Cable)

Wow! How unfortunate. I remember my dad taking us to see a young Joe Montana with the 49'ers (his rookie season) play against the Giants at Candlestick Park in 1979. My dad was also at the last Beatles concert at Candlestick Park. Wasn't at the park when the earthquake hit, but I was playing tennis in the central valley and remember feeling the earthquake. This is unfortuante they are replacing a great park with so much history in favor of a shopping mall.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Sad. So much history being lost. Better to build a new ball park. Don't we have enough malls in the bay area?
    Too much **** to list....

Compared to modern day ball parks, Candlestick Park can be considered ancient. Its parking lot gets flooded regularly and it is famous for being a cold and damp place to watch a night game. I suppose it still looks good on TV, but given that the SF Giants has build its own stadium (AT&T Park) already, Candlestick Park is only half used nowadays.

The new 49ers stadium is already half finished. It's located in Santa Clara (near San Jose,CA instead of being in San Francisco proper).
