Leave it to cbs. A lot of their stuff pushing the sleazier side but I like it.

I am not against eyecandy but I am against my 8-10-12 year old children watching some **** tongue wrestling in a super slo-mo close up.

    Agreed.

I'm normally not one to be a stick in the mud, but I thought that show was fairly inappropriate for a general family audience, unless the super bowl isn't intended to be a family deal.

It seems like the 9:30 commercials for Dallas and Soap are over. I regularly find myself diving for the remote earlier and earlier. Some of the commercials at the 7 to 8 o'clock hour are just plain out of line.

Where's Tina Turner when you need her? She looked great and had all the moves, but she also sang a song that had real lyrics that you could remember.

She?s an American icon, but Tina Turner is reportedly about to renounce her U.S. citizenship in order to become a Swiss citizen.

Yup. We'll probably never see the likes of a group like KISS gain! It's obvious, Rush needs to do the half-time show in order for the affair to reclaim credibility.

IMO Beyonce is a background singer, and an average one at that. The music industry has grown so large, in order to sustain itself (and pay all those massive salaries to management) it has to continually "discover" new "talent".

Horrible songwriting, average musicianship. All the lights and dancers, glitz and glamour are supposed to distract you from realizing the music itself is sh#t.

Don't know if it was the way they had her mixed but I was also disappointed in Alicia Keys rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. THought her voice sounded thin and strident.

I guess all this means I'm a FOG. (fu%*in Old Guy)

In rethinking about the show I guess it's hard to come up with something that is appealing to a TV audience and everybody in the stadium. The TV audience is going to see a combination of the performer and the light show, while the audience is getting mostly the flashing lights. I'm not sure what it would take to please everybody. It is amazing that they can move all of that gear onto the middle of the field, do the show, then get everything off in time for the second half. I remember a comedy record I once heard, "And now ladies and gentlemen, the half time show, a salute to mayonnaise!".

It is a chore to be sure. I do see the problems you mention of trying to give the best to both worlds. maybe it was mixed for the live crowd and nothing could be done to better the sound for the home viewer but that still doesn't change the **** factor and the introduction to nether regions on a prime time afternoon family broadcast. The music sucked but I don't like that kind of music so bias there. The skin could appeal to most, not me so biased there too. I don't suppose the live audience had as "good" of a view of the crotches making it a bit less tramp like in real life.

It is also entirely possible that the amazing and delicious thickness of Alecia Keys in that red dress held no equal  and thus biased there as well, but for the record...too much **** on a show known to have all ages present.

To me the performance looked more like a video than a live performance. Who knows, maybe she wasn't really there.

Based on what the halftime show was, I wound up doing dishes and folding some clothes.

NOW...if they had put Bar Rafaeli on stage and had her just stand there...i'd have been glued to the TV!
    No excuses!

I love Tina! I'd like to see Queen, even with the replacement Freddie do one.

I'm betting next year the NFL goes country, say Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

Why not Rob Zombie? Or Korn? Something that has the same energy of the game. Oh wait...with the first half performance of San Fran I guess the same energy could have been provided by Yanni!

Rob Zombie and Korn are just talentless hacks in the audio geek world. The days of musicians with talent are long gone!!! Just read above, there is no talent in music today!!!

Not true Larry! Check out the Fleet Foxes. They are talented and the music has tons of melody. Phenominal! I am going to listen to some right now, in fact!

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....
