Redesigning HT. Which speaker config is best?

Hi All, This is my first post here so please excuse a newbie. I'm doing a refresh of my HT room, which is also my main living room. It is 25 ft by 15 ft. The screen will be on one of the 15ft walls. I'm interested in your suggestions for speaker configurations. I now have a 5.1 layout but the equipment is pretty old and I'm updating it all. One question I have is whether to go with a soundbar and if so should I have it plus standing speakers L/R in front and surround speakers in rear? Or do you think I should skip the soundbar entirely and go with L/R & center channels in front? Any suggestions are most welcome. Thanks.

I would go for the 5.1 set-up. Since a sound bar has its own internal amplification, you're much more limited in expanding your system. I don't think I can think of a worse HT set-up where the surrounds would out shine the front stage.

If you decide on a sound bar, I woildn't advisie adding surrounds.
