Got a Mapleshade catalog today. I'm flipping through the pages looking at lots of stuff I can't really afford and I get to the speaker stands. First thing I notice is the speaker. LSiM707...I think. Turn a couple of pages and there's the LSiM703. Since I own 703's I'm feeling pretty confident that it is in fact the LSiM series in the Mapleshade catalog. Pretty cool.
That's all I got. Anyone else see this?
Actually, here ya go.

I see the scam artist is trying to lure in polkies. I have first hand seen his "stem to stern" rebuild, which is a joke. I really like his passive line stage "mod" for scotts...what a joke. 4 pieces of wire and a cheap pot for the volume control, and disable the original preamp stage.. I really do not understand how this guy is still around. I have personally undone some of his work as well as replace the cheap components they use to bring the unit to "better that original" specs. I would also like to know how 22 gauge magnet wire makes a better power cord than a 16-18 gauge copper wire. I personally think his business should be called maple shady. I am not the only person who thinks this of the stuff he turns out and am not the only person to undo his work. This is my honest opinion. I waiting to see some one sue him because they or their significant other got hit with 400+ volts from picking up a unit that was recently turner off and still has juice in the capacitors. He adds to slat of wood to the bottom after removing the bottom cover and leaves the high voltage section exposed where and unsuspecting finger could slip into while picking it up. He does have a decent tech working for, but that tech is forced to work with in certain parameters.

I got the Mapleshade catalog in the mail as well, without ever giving them my info. Perhaps Audio Advisor shared/sold my contact info to them?

Same way I got my Emotiva catalog.
I have used a number of Mapleshade products over the years, and felt they did the job for the price. Of course, you can get better, but you pay more also. I still put their Micropoint brass footers under all my gear. They work great. Earlier today I finally decided to upgrade my two channel rack, so tomorrow I am ordering their Samson V3 rack with four maple shelves in rosewood.
Additionally, their CDs are excellent examples of what a CD can do sonically if care is put into the process. Pierre has a good ear when it comes to sound.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

I have one of their Cd's, sounds better than most of my Cd's.
I have the biwire jumpers on my Monitor 70's,they seem to be better than factory jumpers.
I will eventually try the brass footers on my CDP. Would like to try the speaker cables but,I'm pretty happy with Signals cables so it will be awhile. I have called them a few times with questions and they were helpful.Main

Regarding the sound of Mapleshade recordings....I have long thought that they are just a slight bit better than perhaps, a regular CD. With that said, my overall observations of Mapleshade recordings is that they are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to audiophile recordings. When I go to grab something that I want to sound incredible, I pick no Mapleshade. Not one and I have more than a handful. In fact, many times I have been disappointed by their CD's and my general thoughts are that I have been disappointed with every one of my purchases from them. The regular CD I'm listening too right now sounds better than the offerings I have experienced from them.
Of course, this is not to say that they suck but in the grand scheme of things, I expected better. Think FIM, Mo-Fi, Chesky, Telarc...

The problem I had with Mapleshade CDs is not that the recording is only a little better than a 'normal' CD, because they are much better, but the music, by and large, was not to my taste. I karmaed all the CDs I bought except for the reggae one, and the winners loved them. At least they said they did. :biggrin:Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Seems a bit over priced IMO.
I don't know. You might be right, but I would have to buy two Walker Prologue Equipment racks at $12,000 a piece ($24K total) to equal one Mapleshade Samson 3 with four shelves for about $3,000 (1 4" shelf, 3 2" shelves, thick carpet brass footers, rosewood stain). Plus, the default Mapleshade shelves are 2" maple versus 1 1/2" for the Walker racks.
Maybe the Walker rack is worth $24K, but I can't afford that. That is a year's worth of beer money.
If somebody makes an equal or better maple rack than Mapleshade, and it sells for less, then please let me know.

They get another vote from me on the quality of the CDs. Definitely right up there with Telarc and Chesky. That said, I did get one cd where there was some audible static in the recording. I was pretty surprised they were selling that as an "audiophile" recording since something had obviously gone wrong. I sent an email to Mapleshade asking if I somehow got a defective CD. I was pretty sure that wasn't the problem, but was mostly wondering if they were aware of the issue. The answer came back, "No, there is just static in the recording." At least they exchanged it for a different cd no charge.
